BJP workers attacked in Dinahata, pregnant woman among injured
Jalpaiguri: Several BJP workers, including a pregnant woman, were injured after their homes were attacked by a group of about 30 miscreants in Dinhata's Salmara area on Thursday morning.
While BJP squarely blamed Trinamool for the attack, TMC said it was a fallout of the saffron party's internal rivalry. Police have started a probe.
The miscreants, armed with lathis and bamboo sticks, attacked the houses of 'shakti pramukh' Jitendra Barman, Tarini Kanta Barman, Nazirhat-II GP member Juthika Barman and Mahila Morcha neta Malina Barman and vandalised them.

During the attack, the miscreants also allegedly kicked Jitendra's pregnant daughter, leaving her grievously injured.
The lady, eight months' pregnant, was rushed to Cooch Behar Medical College Hospital.
Cooch Behar BJP president Avijit Barman claimed that the attack was carried out to avenge the complaint against 42 TMC supporters, including Udayan Guha.
Trinamool rubbished the allegations. "We don't believe in violence. It was locals who attacked the BJP functionaries to protest the efforts to conduct SIR and impose NRC," said Dipak Bhattacharya, TMC's Dinhata-II president.
