Sanchi brand 'decline' after NDDB merger: Jitu Patwari
HighlightsCongress state unit chief Jitu Patwari has raised concerns about the decline of Madhya Pradesh's flagship dairy brand 'Sanchi' following its merger with the National Dairy Development Board. Patwari reported a drop in milk collection by the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Dairy Federation, stating that total milk collection from Indore decreased from 94,496 kilograms in 2023-24 to 85,438 kilograms in 2024-25. He urged Union Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah to take action to revitalize the 'Sanchi' brand and improve the conditions for milk-producing farmers affected by government neglect. Congress state unit chief Jitu Patwari has written to Union home and cooperative minister Amit Shah, raising alarm over what he termed the rapid decline of the state's flagship dairy brand 'Sanchi' following its merger with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). In a letter to Shah, he said the merger has neither benefited consumers of Sanchi products nor the farmers supplying milk to the MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation. He accused the state govt of neglecting the brand. Patwari wrote at the time of merger, CM Mohan Yadav had announced that the share of MP in overall milk production of the country would be raised from 9 per cent to 20 per cent and "you, too, had given direction to the MP govt to take the target seriously". The Congress leader, however, regretted that it has turned out to be an 'airy' target while the situation on the ground is just the opposite. Patwari claimed that the milk collection by the federation has in fact declined. While the total milk collection from Indore was 94,496 Kg in 2023-24, it reduced to 85,438 Kg in 2024-25. Similarly, the sale of milk has also dipped from 1.56 lakh litre to 1.51 litre. The committees of milk producing farmers also reduced from 385 to 362. The 'Sanchi Parlour' scheme, too, was in a bad shape as 257 applications for setting up a parlour are pending in Indore division itself. Only 57 of them have been accepted and only 31 have opened. In Indore city , 74 applications are pending and only 1 has been accepted. The 'neglect' of Sanchi brand by the govt has "obliquely promoted the private milk brands and they have launched milk and several milk products in the market. It's not only damaging the brand value of 'Sanchi' but also leading to 'exploitation' of milk-producing farmers", he said. Patwari alleged that the milk-producing farmers in place of getting remunerative prices for the milk and becoming economically self-sufficient are being driven into economic crisis due to neglect by the state government and bureaucracy. While stating that as cooperative minister, Shah was supposed to strengthen the cooperative bodies all over the country, Patwari said he should not "mutely see a historic cooperative movement like 'Sanchi' go to ruins". He also suggested steps to the union cooperative minister to improve the 'Sanchi brand including formation of an independent panel to examine the actual state of affairs at MP Milk Federation, disposal of application for setting up of 'Sanchi' parlour all over the state in a time-bound manner, review the role of NDDB in collection of milk, its price determination and its distribution network and make the entire process transparent. Besides, the government should be asked to explain why the milk production is not increasing despite announcement of the chief minister, Patwari said. He urged the union cooperative minister to "save" Sanchi brand from decline in the overall interest of the country's cooperative movement.

Vyapam to police constable recruitment, it's endless series of scams: Patwari
Bhopal: Congress state unit president Jitu Patwari on Friday came down heavily on the BJP govt for the recently exposed police constable recruitment "scam". "MPPSC (Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission) has now become a corruption recruitment department," Patwari said. "Fake candidates were made to sit in the constable recruitment exam through solver gangs. So far, 16 FIRs have been registered, but no concrete action seems to have been taken. Earlier, the same pattern has been seen in the Patwari recruitment, primary teacher recruitment, and many other recruitment examinations," he said. He argued that lakhs of youth in the state dream of govt jobs and toil night and day for it. "But this govt is busy digging the grave of their dreams. I want to ask the govt - why are the children and youth being strangled? Will the hard work of the youth now be sacrificed to conspiracies?" Patwari asked. "From Vyapam to constable recruitment, it is an endless series of corruption. Till when will the MP govt put the future of the youth at stake?" he asked. Recalling the Vyapam recruitment scam, the Congress chief said, "Not only did a scam take place, but justice was murdered. More than 50 deaths took place, including students, journalists and officials associated with the scam. Even today, not a single accused has been punished. All have been acquitted. What kind of justice is this? Is this the Ram Rajya that the BJP talks about?" Patwari said the Congress would raise these questions on public forums. "This is not the time to sit quietly. We will ask questions and demand answers from the govt and society. When the daughters of the country are unsafe, when the future of the youth is in the dark, when the recruitment system is in the hands of mafias, then it is the responsibility of the opposition to raise its voice and get justice for the people." Besides, Patwari asked who is taking the salaries of the 50,000 missing govt employees over the past two decades. He claimed that 50,000 govt employees did not withdraw their salaries amounting to Rs 250 crore this year. "Fifty thousand employees of the state govt have gone missing. More than Rs 250 crore in salary is not being withdrawn by these employees. The govt has appointed a commission for this and asked to find the missing employees," Patwari said. "The state has 4.5 lakh employees, and the govt is trying to track 50,000 of them. This is a huge financial and administrative chaos. Now there is no one to take the salary, so in the last 22 to 25 years, who was taking this money of Rs 500 crore per year? It is an amount as big as Rs 12,500 crore that has been taken, but by whom." He said the state govt was continuously taking loans. "We have again taken a loan of Rs 450 crore. The people of the state need to awaken; they (BJP govt) have made govt employees disappear and have been taking their salaries for years. The BJP govt has made unique scams in the state – a Chambal scam, a snake bite scam, there are 42 different scams that have hit the state under BJP rule. Time to ‘retire lame horse'—Rahul Gandhi hints at massive revamp of MP Congress unit
Referring to an earlier address to the Gujarat Congress, Rahul said, 'Earlier I had mentioned two horses, but we all know there is a third kind of horse.' 'But they shouldn't trouble others. Otherwise, they will have to face disciplinary action,' he told party workers in Bhopal's Ravindra Bhawan during a day-long visit to the city to kickstart a campaign to revive the state organisation. Bhopal: Signalling a major overhaul of the beleaguered Madhya Pradesh Congress, senior leader Rahul Gandhi used a metaphor on Wednesday to outline his revival plan. Taking a swipe at the party's old guard, which has dominated the party for decades, he said, 'There are three types of horses: A race horse, a wedding horse and a lame horse. The race horse will be put in the race, the wedding horse in a wedding and the lame one needs to be asked to retire.' Soon after he arrived in Bhopal, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha also chaired a meeting of the state's political affairs committee. He was welcomed at the airport by state party president Jitu Patwari, leader of opposition Umang Singhar and senior Congress leader Kamal Nath. Drawing from recent structural changes in the Gujarat Congress, Rahul hinted at a similar exercise in Madhya Pradesh. 'I compared the old list of district presidents with the new names proposed by observers. One list had the names of assistants of senior leaders and the other list had potential. This is something we want to repeat in Madhya Pradesh and take it down from the district level to the village level,' he said. The new district presidents, he explained, will be measured on objective parameters such as the party's increase in vote share in local and parliamentary elections, the local unit's response to the targeting and suppression of Adivasis, backward classes, women and minorities, and whether new workers are being promoted. Rahul said district presidents would play a critical role in the selection of candidates for local bodies, MLAs and and MPs. 'There are some who keep giving controversial statements, some who say things out of frustration, and some others who also work for the BJP. But we have to start making changes somewhere. So we have decided to start from the district and district presidents up to the village level,' he said. He added that the party had enough talent to defeat the BJP, but their hands were tied as their voices were stifled within the party. He assured them that the 'doors of his home, that of Venu Gopal and state president Jitu Patwari would always be open for them'. 'Narendra-Surrender' Rahul also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over Operation Sindoor, India's response to the 22 April terror attack in Pahalgam, and reports of US President Donald Trump's role in the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. 'US President Trump picked up the phone and said, 'What are you doing Modi ji?, Narendra-Surrender'. And swiftly obliging, Narendra Modi ji followed Trump's order,' the Congress leader said. He then drew parallels to the 1971 India-Pakistan when the then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi stood her ground even as the US deployed the 7th Fleet. 'We all remember 1971 when there was no call but the 7th Fleet was on standby with aircraft carriers, but Indira Gandhi ji said, 'I'll do what needs to be done'.' Rahul also attacked the BJP and RSS, saying they were in the habit of surrendering since the freedom struggle. But people like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel were not among those who surrendered; instead, these are the people who fought the superpowers. His attack on Modi drew a sharp reaction from the BJP. BJP state party president V.D. Sharma condemned Gandhi's statement. 'The comments made by Rahul Gandhi show his Italian upbringing. He is playing the role of a Chinese agent and as the spokesperson of Pakistan. Why did Indira Gandhi release the prisoners of war after the 1971 war? Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the terrorists' safe havens are destroyed,' he said. (Edited by Sugita Katyal) Also Read: Revanth asks how many Rafale jets 'shot down' in Op Sindoor. Rahul Gandhi paying floral tribute to former PM Indira Gandhi in Bhopal without removing his shoes triggers controversy
However, a video shared by State Congress chief and former MP minister Jitu Patwari shows Rahul taking off his shoes before offering tributes to the Late PM. CM Mohan Yadav said, 'The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha is here, everyone is welcomed here in a democracy. But offering floral tributes to his grandmother without even taking off his shoes did not go down well. It isn't in line with our tradition and culture.' Reacting to the CM's remark, the state Congress's media wing head Mukesh Nayak said, 'We are not people who do too many rituals... throwing dust in the eyes in the name of sanskar, promoting religious fanaticism in the country in the name of sanskar, making fake people wear fake clothes and stand in the public in the name of sanskar... such times have ended in India. The public is fed up with it, Now there is only one thing: to create an egalitarian society and to think about everyone's development by keeping an inclusive approach. This is the ideology of Congress.' Notably, the Congress party has suffered successive drubbings in the 2023 assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Madhya Pradesh is the second BJP-ruled state after Gujarat, where the Congress is launching the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan. Rahul Gandhi will hold a series of meetings with the state party's Political Affairs Committee (PAC), the MLAs and ex-MPs and the observers appointed for individual districts under the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan. He will also address the party's functionaries and workers from across the State, before leaving from Bhopal in the evening.

Fake FIR, says Jitu Patwari after Indore cops book his kin in land grab case
BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Congress leaders on Friday mounted a sharp attack on the state government after the Indore police registered a land-grabbing case against state unit president Jitu Patwari's brother and others. 'The FIR has been registered to harass my family but we will go to court to prove our innocence,' said Jitu Patwari, describing the first information report (FIR) registered by the police as 'fake'. The FIR names Jitu's brother Bharat Patwari, a relative Nana Patwari, and Congress district president Sadashiv Yadav. Police said the FIR was registered on Thursday by the Tejaji Nagar police based on a complaint by Narendra Mehta (74), a resident of Mahavir Bagh in Indore. Mehta has alleged that Nana, Bharat, and Yadav forcibly grabbed his 6.5-acre plot of land in Umri Khedi and started construction of a residential complex. In the complaint, Mehta said his father had purchased the land parcel from Narayan Palsikar in 1950 who had received it from the erstwhile Holkar royal family. 'Police are investigating the matter and will soon arrest the accused,' police station in-charge of Tejaji Nagar Devendra Markam said. He said the FIR was registered under sections 318 (cheating), 336 (forgery), 337 (forging documents), and 338 (forging of valuable securities) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Digvijaya Singh staged a protest against the FIR, saying it was a politically motivated case. 'This was government land and was handed over to the Yadav community to develop a Gwala colony in 1994 during my tenure. Later, the community formed a trust to develop a cow shelter and a temple. In the land record, there was no mention of the complainant's name,' said Singh.
