Cong holds Vote Satyagraha Tiranga Yatra in Gwalior against alleged mandate theft

Bhopal: State Congress on Thursday organised a Vote Satyagraha Tiranga Yatra in Gwalior which was led by state in-charge Harish Chaudhary, PCC chief Jitu Patwari, LOP Umang Singhar and senior party functionaries Sunil Sharma, MLAs Pankaj Upadhyay, Sahab Singh Gurjar, Suresh Raje, Gwalior (city) district president Devendra Sharma, former MLA Praveen Pathak and others. Speaking to reporters, state party in-charge Chaudhary said: "Today, it is our biggest responsibility to stop the attacks on the democratic system of the country and to save the sanctity of the right to vote. The vote theft being done by the BJP is an attempt to weaken the roots of democracy, and the Congress will fight it strongly." The Congress party is taking out protest marches and demonstrations across the state to protest vote-theft which was alleged by Lok Sabha LOP Rahul Gandhi last week. The Congress claimed that during the 2024 Parliamentary elections, one assembly constituency within a Lok Sabha seat in Karnataka had more than a lakh fake voters. LOP Singhar said: "Our pride is our tricolor. This struggle against the conspiracy of vote-theft in the country is not just for votes, but to save the soul of the country." Patwari said: "Today, by participating in Vote Satyagraha Tiranga Yatra in Gwalior, we have raised our voice for democratic justice and constitutional rights. Those responsible for vote theft will be brought to the dock. The provision of 'one person, one vote' is necessary for a healthy and prosperous democracy, but the BJP has committed the organised crime of vote theft by insulting democracy." He argued that the Vote Satyagraha Tiranga Yatra is being organised to give a clear message from Gwalior that the Congress party will continue to struggle on every front to protect democracy and maintain the sanctity of voting rights. Cong holds Nyay Satyagraha in Rewa against alleged ‘vote theft', next protest in Bhopal

Bhopal: MP Congress on Tuesday held a "Vote Chori Nyay Satyagraha" in Rewa to protest the Election Commission's special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and alleged vote theft in the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. The protest was led by state PCC chief Jitu Patwari and LoP Umang Singhar who along with Congress workers marched to the Rewa divisional commissioner's office to submit a memorandum. However, the Congress was stopped on the way by police barricades which the party workers breached to continue the march. Commissioner, Rewa division, did not come out of his office to accept the memorandum. Speaking to mediapersons in Jabalpur ahead of the protest in Rewa, Patwari said, "The narrative of vote theft has been presented before the nation. After 78 years of Independence, political parties and citizens believe that we elect our govts. This is the trust that we have on our democracy. But for some years, we have been saying that the EC has become a parrot, working for the BJP and the PM. Rahul Gandhi has proved this and the time has come for the EC to specify who it was stealing votes for and why. " Patwari alleged that Jabalpur has at least 2,000 houses with more than 50 voters. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Indonesia: New Container Houses (Prices May Surprise You) Container House | Search Ads Search Now Undo "Ever since we announced that the state Congress will also reveal manipulation of votes, the EC website has stopped working here. For the last three days, the website is not working," Patwari said. He said "Vote Chori Nyay Satyagraha" will be held in Bhopal on Wednesday and Gwalior on Thursday. "For three days, Congress will hold its protest demonstrations along with Tiranga Yatra. "Protests will also be held in other parts of the state so that the sanctity of one vote per citizen can be maintained. The belief that we choose our representatives and govt with one vote should not be harmed. This is a fight to save the right to vote, our democracy and the country," he said. Singhar said, "This movement is a resolution to raise the voice of the people, protect democracy and get justice. Our fight against the dictatorship and unjust policies of BJP will continue until the people of the state get justice and victory of truth is ensured." Cong demands roll-back of stamp duties bill

Bhopal: Day after MP govt passed the Indian Stamp (Madhya Pradesh Amendment) Bill 2025 proposing steep hike in all judicial and non-judicial stamp duties, the Congress on Thursday demanded a roll-back of the decision. State Congress president Jitu Patwari shot a letter to CM Mohan Yadav alleging that the BJP govt is cutting into the common man's pockets. In his letter, Patwari demanded an "immediate withdrawal" of the Bill. In his letter to the chief minister, the state PCC chief said, "Through some bills passed in the Assembly, you have once again proved that your govt is not concerned with the interests of the common man but is busy compensating the fiscal deficit by cutting into the pockets of the common man. The stamp duty on important documents like affidavit, property agreement, consent letter, power of attorney, license renewal, correction in registries has been increased from 100% to 500%. " Speaking to mediapersons, Patwari alleged that the condition of the govt has deteriorated so much that now people are being squeezed to improve its financial condition. "The govt is taking loans every month, the state has a debt of more than four and a half lakh crores, schemes are falling prey to 50% commission and crores are being wasted on the ministers' air travel, cars, bungalows and publicity. Question is, why should the public compensate for all this?" Patwari asked. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). ‘Investment drama': Patwari on CM's foreign visits

Bhopal: Congress state unit president Jitu Patwari on Saturday launched a scathing attack on CM Mohan Yadav's foreign visits, calling them a "Nivesh Nautanki (investment drama)". He also accused Yadav of wasting public money in the name of attracting global investment. In a statement, Patwari said the people had a right to know how the state had benefited from the CM's recent trips to Dubai in the UAE and Spain, as well as previous visits to Japan, the UK and Germany. "Everytime, there were claims of investment proposals worth thousands of crores pouring in, but no major investment has come on the ground. All the statistics about investments and employment generation are limited to papers," he said. He asked the BJP govt to let people know how much money was spent on these trips, why no investment and job creation is visible despite signing of more than 3-dozen MoUs, how, and when people of debt-ridden the state would get the benefits of the chief minister's foreign visit. Patwari said the CM may or may not answer these questions, but the people very well understand that investment doesn't come through publicity and photo-shoots, but the actual change experienced on the ground. The Congress leader said in the interest of the people of MP, the chief minister should stop this "drama and waste of public funds".
