The ball of yarn is running out for an iconic fabric and craft retailer. Joann will permanently close all its stores by May 31, including its locations in Washington. Joann shuttered 255 locations in April, months after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time within a year. Since filing for bankruptcy, the company has held going-out-of-business sales at the locations. At those sales, prices are marked down 70% to 90%, according to (Note: sales on the online site have ended.) Stores are also selling the furniture, shelves, and equipment, according to the site. The more than 440 stores that remain will be closed by May 31, according to Jo Anne McCusker, a spokesperson for GA Group, the retail liquidator that won all of Joann's chain's assets through auction in February. USA TODAY published this table showing multiple Joann stores across Washington have been identified for closure by the end of May. The Hudson, Ohio-based retailer, which has been in business since 1943, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time within a year and auctioned its remaining assets. On Feb. 22, retail liquidator GA Group and Joann's term lenders won the bidding for the company. An announcement that all Joann stores would close came days later, after the company initially announced the closures of "approximately 500" of its more than 800 locations across the U.S. GA Group has previously worked with Joann in buying House of Fabrics, a former competitor, in the late 1990s and helping increase the retailer's store footprints from 2006 to 2016, Scott Carpenter, CEO of GA Group's Retail Solutions, previously told the USA TODAY Network. After more than 80 years in business, all Joann stores are set to permanently close by May 31. The beloved fabric and craft retailer is shutting its doors for good. Back in April, Joann closed 255 of its stores, just months after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time in a year. Since then, the company has been holding going-out-of-business sales at many of its locations. According to prices at these sales have been heavily discounted—ranging from 70% to 90% off. (Online sales have already ended.) In addition to crafts and fabric, stores are also selling off furniture, shelves, and other equipment. The remaining 440+ stores will close by the end of May, according to Jo Anne McCusker, spokesperson for GA Group. The retail liquidation company acquired all of Joann's assets at auction earlier this year. Hundreds of Joann locations have already closed. More than 400 remaining stores will close by the end of May, according to a list shared with Fast Company. If you're looking for fabric or art supplies from your local Joann, you may want to hurry. The remaining stores will be closing on Saturday, May 31. Joann, a fabric and craft retailer for more than 80 years, shuttered 255 locations in April — including 20 in Florida — months after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time within a year. Prices at the remaining stores are marked down 70% to 90%, according to although onine sales have stopped. Stores are also selling furniture, shelves and equipment. The more than 440 stores that remain will be closed by May 31, according to Jo Anne McCusker, a spokesperson for retail liquidator GA Group, which won all of Joann's chain's assets in a February auction. Florida has 23 left, according to a USA TODAY list. The following Florida Joann locations are still listed as open but all of them will be closed May 31.
