She went on to star alongside major actors including Ajay Devgn, Suniel Shetty, Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan. Her filmography spans over 53 films, with notable titles like Bombay (1995), The Don (19950, Takkar (1995), Gaddar (1995), English Babu Desi Mem (19960, Sapoot (1996), Diljale (1996) and Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999). Sonali Bendre didn't limit herself to Bollywood. She also made a significant impact in the South Indian film industry, particularly with her Telugu debut in Murari (2001), opposite Mahesh Babu. Their romantic scenes were widely praised, and the film marked another turning point in her career. Just when everything seemed to be at its peak, fame, recognition, and success, Sonali Bendre was diagnosed with a life-threatening form of cancer.

While reflecting on a photo with Aamir from the sets of Sarfarosh, Sonali recalled, in a chat with Bollywood Bubble, how her wardrobe choices subtly influenced Aamir's looks in the film. She credited designer Ashlee, who along with director John and cinematographer Matthew, carefully planned the visuals. Given the film's intense and serious tone, Sonali considered herself the comic relief, often joking about it during the shoot. As a fun detail, she mentioned that Aamir would wear shirts matching the color of her outfits throughout the film.
