Immersive New Venue for ‘JoJo's Bizarre Adventure' Fans to Open in Shibuya, Tokyo
An exciting new experience-based official shop dedicated to the beloved manga and anime series 'JoJo's Bizarre Adventure' is scheduled to open its doors at Shibuya Parco in Tokyo on Thursday. Bandai Namco Experience Inc. showcased the immersive new venue, The JoJo World, to the press on July 17, revealing a space where visitors can dive into the series' world through themed mini-games and unique experiences. Entry to this must-visit spot will initially require reservations made via its official website. 'JoJo's Bizarre Adventure' is a popular manga series that began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1987. To date, it has sold over 120 million copies. The shop features mini-games that allow visitors to experience memorable scenes from the series, as well as a coffee shop offering menu items inspired by the work. 'You can experience the entire world of JoJo. I hope this place becomes a special memory for many people,' Bandai Namco Experience President Hiroshi Kawasaki said. Author Hirohiko Araki expressed his anticipation, saying, 'I hope it becomes a shop that feels close [to the fans].'

Barnes & Noble opening over 60 new stores, including one in Port St. Lucie, Florida
As the Barnes & Noble brand continues to grow, the company is expanding with plans to open over 60 locations in the United States, including one in Port St. Lucie. A Barnes & Noble bookstore will open at 1745 St. Lucie West Blvd. in Town Center at St Lucie West, where Party City used to be. The Party City closed after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Dec. 21 and closed all its stores nationwide. "Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful," the bookseller said in a February news release. "In 2024, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019." The over 13,000 square-foot store is targeted to open by November, but the date is subject to change, according to Barnes & Noble spokesperson Janine Flanigan. Tiny creatures that turn ‘flame-like red' are a new species in South China Sea
While studying coral reefs in the South China Sea, tiny 'vibrant red' creatures — less than half an inch wide — caught the attention of researchers. Divers and a remotely operated vehicle collected several specimens, which were later revealed to be a new species of crab, according to an April 8 study published in the peer-reviewed journal ZooKeys. Gaillardiellus magiruber is named for its ability to change its color over its lifetime to a 'flame-like red,' according to the study. The word magiruber is a reference to a fiery figure called Magician's Red in the manga series 'JoJo's Bizarre Adventure,' according to the study. 'As body size increases, the coloration changes from a lighter orange-red with bright red spots to a totally vibrant bright red,' researchers said. Additionally, its front claws — the cheliped fingers — change from having white tips and a brown base to being entirely white, according to researchers. The new species belongs to the xanthid family — a group of crabs known to be highly toxic. Gaillardiellus magiruber is oval-shaped with wide, deep grooves on its exoskeleton. Its body is covered with spiky hair-like structures called setae used for sensory detection, according to the study. The largest specimen collected, a female, measured less than half an inch wide and tall, according to the study. The crabs were collected off the Spratly and Paracel Islands — two disputed archipelagos in the South China Sea. The research team included Yuan Ziming, Jiang Wei and Sha Zhongli.
