Carried out by Somerset Council's Environmental Health Officers, the National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme provides customers with information about hygiene standards in food businesses.
Eateries are rated on the following factors: handling of food, how food is stored, how food is prepared, cleanliness of facilities, and how food safety is managed. A rating of five is the best possible grade.
Now managed by Ray and Joanna Matravers, the new team are "delighted" with the local community's support since the Rising Sun's doors reopened in November 2024.
This new rating is one of several recent successes at 'The Riser', with the pub also recently unveiling its new outside beer garden area.
Known to be a lover of horses, and with owner Ray having a background in horse racing, the couple created the design of the new-look garden, which features a repurposed horsebox bar, converted from a vintage horse trailer.
Owner Ray Matravers took to social media to share the news about the new rating. He said, "Proud to say we got a 5-star rating.
"I hope to see you all soon."
