Veterans Bridge Home to Host First Women Veterans Honor Walk in Raleigh

RALEIGH, NC - June 6, 2025 (NEWMEDIAWIRE) - In recognition of Women Veterans Day, Veterans Bridge Home (VBH), in partnership with Wake County, the North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and local veteran-serving organizations, will host the inaugural Women Veterans Honor Walk on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 10 a.m. to noon at the North Carolina Veterans Monument in Downtown Raleigh. Participants will walk to honor the service, strength and sacrifice of women who have worn the uniform - past and present. Attendees are encouraged to walk in honor or memory of a woman veteran, whether themselves, a loved one or someone whose service deserves recognition. The walk will conclude at the steps of the North Carolina State Capitol and feature remarks from Secretary Jocelyn Mitnaul Mallette of the North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, who will serve as the keynote speaker. The program will also include patriotic music, moments of recognition and access to community resources for women veterans. "This event is an opportunity to shine a light on the extraordinary contributions of women who have served our country," said Lori Noonan, chief growth officer of Veterans Bridge Home. "We're honored to create a space where their service is recognized and celebrated by the community." Memorial Day ceremonies in the Upstate: What to know

(WSPA) – Gatherings are happening all across the South Carolina, and Western North Carolina, to honor those who died while serving in the United States military. Simpsonville Memorial Day Ceremony – Sergeant John Salinas of the S.C. State Guard will talk about the restrictions that have lifted, allowing more veterans to give back through blood donations. May 26 at 11 a.m., hosted at the Simpsonville Arts Center, 110 Academy Street, in Simpsonville. City of Mauldin, Memorial Day Ceremony – The City of Mauldin will host a ceremony, offering community members to pay their respects to fallen service members. May 26 at 11 a.m. until noon, hosted at the Mauldin Veterans Memorial, 101 East Butler Road, in Mauldin. Pendleton Memorial Day Ceremony – The Pendleton American Legion Post 113 will host a ceremony to honor fallen heroes. May 26 at 10 a.m., hosted at the Pendleton Veterans Park, 500 Lebanon Road, in Pendleton. Asheville Memorial Day Ceremony – A tribute to honor the fallen heroes. Secretary of the N.C.
