San Angelo police arrest one in homicide, pursue additional suspects

San Angelo police arrested a 17-year-old and are looking to apprehend two more teens in connection with the murder of 19-year-old Joe Angel Martinez III this week, according to a media release Friday. Davon Lewis, 17, and a 16-year-old juvenile male are being sought for murder charges, according to a police media release. During a press conference Friday afternoon, police Chief Travis Griffith asked the two suspects still at large to turn themselves in. "I know this is a scary situation, but I ask that you not put your family and friends through any more trouble, and running away makes things worse," Griffith said. Police asked that anyone with information related to this incident contact San Angelo Crimestoppers at 325-658-HELP (4357). Crimestoppers pays rewards for anonymous tips that lead to arrests. Griffith said police believe Martinez's murder is narcotics related. Officers with the San Angelo Police Department have arrested Justin Ramirez, 17, for a murder charge in connection with the incident, the release on Friday stated. Ramirez was being held Friday in the Tom Green County Jail on a $150,000 bond, online jail records show. "All individuals in this incident have been identified," Friday's release stated. Anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent until convicted beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Around 10 p.m. Wednesday, officers with the police department were dispatched to the area of Roosevelt Street and Rio Concho Drive in reference to a motor vehicle accident, police stated in a previous media release. Officers located a male, later identified as Martinez, with a gunshot wound inside the vehicle. "The individual was later pronounced deceased at Shannon Medical Center," police stated in Thursday's media release.
