New regional councillor reacts to being elected by fellow councillors
Joe Gowing is the newest member of Region of Waterloo council. He was chosen last Thursday after regional councillors heard from 44 people interested to fill a vacant seat once held by councillor Kari Williams. Williams died in April after a battle with cancer. After three rounds of voting, council elected Joe Gowing to represent Kitchener at the regional level. Gowing told CBC K-W what it was like to be a part of the unusual process to elect a new regional councillor.
