Warrant issued for man accused of fleeing from APD
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque Police are looking for a second suspect believed to be behind the wheel when a passenger fired shots at an officer, according to court documents. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Andrew Winfield, who investigators believe drove the car while Joeray Newson fired several rounds toward an officer's vehicle. The incident started with a traffic stop near San Mateo and Zuni on Jan. 20. Police said the car took off, and an officer spotted it and began a chase. The officer's vehicle was hit by gunfire. Man accused of shooting at Albuquerque police to remain behind bars through trial
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Joeray Newson, accused of firing at police after a traffic stop, will remain behind bars while awaiting trial. Police say the car took off and Newson fired several rounds. The officer was not hit. Police say the suspects stopped at a bank and four people fled, but Newson was later arrested. Police say Newson is already on federal probation for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is now facing new charges, including aggravated assault on a peace officer.
