According to a criminal complaint, on January 20, an Albuquerque police officer tried to pull over a white Acura with no license plate near San Mateo and Zuni. Police say the car took off and Newson fired several rounds. The officer was not hit. Police say the suspects stopped at a bank and four people fled, but Newson was later arrested. Police say Newson is already on federal probation for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is now facing new charges, including aggravated assault on a peace officer. Judge Britt Baca granted pretrial detention.
