Bournemouth make enquiry over PSV forward Johan Bakayoko with Premier League club ready to make £20m offer
Bournemouth have asked about PSV forward Johan Bakayoko and are prepared to make an offer in the region of £20m to secure his services. The 22-year-old Belgium international has been tracked by a number of Premier League clubs and Bournemouth want to bolster their attacking options for manager Andoni Iraola. The Cherries are determined to strengthen despite their talented squad being targeted by elite European clubs. Bakayoko impressed against Liverpool in the Champions League this season and was the subject of a failed £17m bid from Burnley in 2023. Bournemouth have asked about Bologna centre back Jhon Lucumi. With Paris St Germain keen on Ilya Zabarnyi and Dean Huijsen having left for Real Madrid, the Cherries are in need of reinforcements and have turned to Colombia international Lucumi. The 26-year old has 28 caps for Colombia and was part of the Bologna squad that won the Coppa Italia against AC Milan last season. However, Serie A giants Inter Milan have also been showing interest. Bournemouth have also enquired about Nathan Zeze at Nantes in recent weeks as they look to find quality players once again for manager Andoni Iraola. They also like Rennes left back Adrien Truffert as Liverpool are closing on a £40m deal for Milos Kerkez.

Ismael Saibari leads PSV Eindhoven to 3-2 Victory over Liverpool
In a thrilling showdown on the final day of the UEFA Champions League group stage, Ismael Saibari emerged as a pivotal figure in PSV Eindhoven's 3-2 triumph over Liverpool. The English club initially seized the lead with a penalty converted by Cody Gakpo in the 28th minute. However, PSV quickly responded when Johan Bakayoko equalized in the 35th minute. Liverpool's Harvey Elliott restored their lead in the 40th minute, but Moroccan international Saibari leveled the score just before halftime in the 45th minute. In added time, Ricardo Pepi secured the home side's advantage. The decisive moments of the match unfolded in the first half, setting the stage for the remainder of the game. Despite Liverpool's efforts in the second half, PSV's defense, bolstered by Saibari's contributions, remained resolute. Saibari exited the field in the 75th minute to a standing ovation from fans, who celebrated his spirited performance. The Reds concluded the match with ten players after Amara Nallo received a red card for a tackle on Johan Bakayoko. PSV Eindhoven's victory ensures they finish fourteenth in their group, securing a spot in the Champions League play-offs. This milestone marks another chapter for Moroccan internationals at the club level, following Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) commanding 4-1 victory over Stuttgart the same day. With PSG, Achraf Hakimi continues to shine as a key player, also advancing to the play-offs.

PSV star admits he deliberately defied his manager vs Liverpool - 'I'll hear it straight'
Johan Bakayoko said he will "hear it straight" from his manager after defying orders in PSV Eindhoven's 3-2 win over Liverpool. The skillful winger took several flamboyant touches on the ball during the Champions League encounter, especially in the second half of the game, which drew a reaction from the crowd. While the fans liked it, Bakayoko said his manager, Peter Bosz, would be less impressed. "I don't think the coach will be happy about it. I think that's also why people come to the stadium. You saw how they reacted to that. I think that could be a bit more,' the Belgian international revealed after the game. I like gallery play, but he likes efficient football. I'll hear it straight from him, I know that already. 'We can be happy that we won against big names, but they didn't come with the strongest team either. It's a shame that they didn't come with the strongest team.' Bakayoko, who was linked with a move to Liverpool last summer, got PSV up and running during the Champions League decider on Wednesday. It was his goal that got PSV back on level terms for the first time following Cody Gakpo's penalty. The 21-year-old netted his eighth goal of the season in sublime fashion after he controlled the ball with his left foot and shaped to shoot before chopping back onto his right foot and firing past Caoimhin Kelleher. It was a moment that embarrassed the makeshift center-back pairing of Jarell Quansah and Andy Robertson, both of whom slid in to block the shot but were fooled by Bakayoko's deceptive feint. The win ensures PSV progresses to the knockout stages of the Champions League and will face either Juventus or Feyenoord in the play-off rounds. The Dutch champions will learn their fate during Friday's draw, which will determine the play-off matches. Liverpool will also be keeping an eye on proceedings in Nyom, even if it is not directly affected yet. The Reds know they will face one of Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, Monaco, or Brest when the last-16 commences, but the draw will determine which of the quartet will face each of the play-offs. It will be PSG or Benfica against Monaco or Brest. Once those double-legged ties are concluded, Liverpool will then be drawn against one of the two sides, who progress to the last-16 stage.

Red card for Nallo was cruel, says Liverpool's Slot
EINDHOVEN, Netherlands, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Liverpool teenager Amara Nallo learned a harsh lesson as he was sent off four minutes after coming off the bench to make his senior debut in the Champions League game at PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday. The 18-year-old was shown a straight card for hacking down Johan Bakayoko in the 87th minute of Liverpool's 3-2 defeat, their first in this season's competition. It gave him the dubious distinction of becoming the youngest ever Liverpool player to be sent off. "It is cruel but he has never played first team football before and to make your debut in the Champions League is probably the hardest," Liverpool manager Arne Slot, whose side had already wrapped up a last-16 spot, told reporters. "He misinterpreted the situation and it's a big moment to learn from. It is cruel when you think I'm making my Champions League debut but you go off a few minutes later. "A career isn't always positive, it also has negatives and he has to make sure he plays in this competition again." It capped a frantic night in Eindhoven in which all the goals were scored in a breathless first half. A much-changed Liverpool twice led with a penalty by Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott's tap-in, but PSV hit back through Bakayoko and Ismael Saibari before Ricardo Pepi's deft finish put PSV ahead in first-half stoppage time. Liverpool still ended the group phase on top of the standings with 21 points and will be one of the strong favourites heading into the knockout rounds. Andy Robertson, captain for the night, said the new Champions League group stage format had produced "carnage" on the final evening of action with 18 games but was happy that Liverpool had got the job done with seven straight wins. "I'm glad our place was settled," the Scot said. "All the games on one night created excitement. We know whatever format it was, our aim is always to get to the last 16 and then we see if we can go further." Liverpool will play Paris St Germain, Benfica, AS Monaco or Brest in the last 16.
