Buzzing Around CT: Natasha goes ice fishing with DEEP
KILLINGWORTH, Conn. (WTNH) — In this week's 'Buzzing Around CT,' Natasha Lubczenko learns how to ice fish with Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).
'We're blessed to have incredible natural resources here in Connecticut, and fishing is an important part of our recreation and economy,' John-Michael Parker, environment committee co-chair for Connecticut General Assembly.
DEEP hosts a number of ice fishing courses throughout the winter—both in person and virtually—and there's even a great family-friendly event happening this weekend.
'We love to get people outdoors, so we have an upcoming event called No Child Left Inside,' DEEP'S Deputy Commissioner Mason Trumble said. 'It's Feb. 1. at Burr Pond State Park and weather permitting, we'll do some ice fishing there. We also have a bunch of other really fun activities.'
Watch the video above as Justin Wiggins from DEEP's Fisheries Division showed Natasha the ropes!
'Buzzing Around CT' is a segment where CT Buzz Host Natasha Lubczenko tries new things, uncovers hidden gems, and highlights the best our state has to offer.
