The retailer has launched more than 100 new or refreshed products in its Foodhall for summer, leaving many customers 'drooling'. First up, there's a brand new Shred N' Share Dine In deal which feeds four and consists of a slow cooked main and four sides for £20. Options for this include Carolina BBQ British Pork, British Chicken Shawarma and British Minced Beef Chilli for the main event, coupled with dishes like Spicy Rice, Chunky Chips, Green Goddess Slaw, Salsa Verde Potato Salad and Sweetcorn Ribs. And to round off your meal, there's a tempting selection of new desserts which people have been going absolutely wild over on social media. The sweet treat selection includes a UK first, as M&S combines cookies and cheesecake to create new Cookie Cups. Available in three flavours (Raspberry & White Chocolate, Extremely Chocolatey and Hazelnut Praline) they cost £2.69 each and are described as being a chewy cookie with smooth cheesecake filling. Each is topped with a sauce, chocolate chunks and various other goodies. They've also put new spins on classic pastries, launching Double Filled Lemon Eclairs (£3), which see choux pastry filled with whipped cream and lemon curd before being topped with a tangy lemon fondant. Tirami-choux Profiteroles (£4) have hit the chilled section too and as the name suggests these are choux pastries containing a coffee, mascarpone and a Marsala cream filling, with chocolate sauce on top. Tiramisu fans can also get their hands on new full-size twists on the Italian dessert, with a Limoncello version and a Hazelnut one (both £5.25). And for the pistachio lovers mini Pistachio Tiramisu pots are also being sold for £2 for two. Yum! Other new items in the supermarket include sauces like spicy mayo and a coffee BBQ glaze, as well as bottles of White Sangria, a gluten-free Korean Chicken Sandwich and various tortilla wraps including Nacho Spice, Spinach & Herb and Corn & Wheat Tacos. Chef Tom Kerridge has also launched a new M&S Collection Grill Range ahead of the warm weather and the line-up contains Burnt End Meatballs with Chipotle Sauce, Seven Spice Beef Koftas and Spiced Honey Spatchcock Chicken. Social media users have been raving over the new releases, with the Cookie Cups causing a particular stir online. In response to a post about them on the Snack News & Reviews page on Facebook, John Andrew said he was 'drooling', while Gemma Halbert commented: 'I need one of these pronto' and Jasmine Smith branded them as 'lush'. On Instagram, @sweetreviewsuk said: 'Wow, these look delicious!' and @golf_mamma proclaimed 'they were amazing'. Similarly, @sk86x thought the 'white chocolate one is absolutely incredible' and @bonbonbonia shared: 'This is very naughty and I like it.' Some also said they were 'yummy', would 'go down a treat' and they'd be 'great with a brew'. This comes after M&S recently were trumped by cheap sausages in a supermarket taste test. Nine supermarket own-brand sausages were pitted against each other as part of the test and compared to several popular brands too, like Heck and Jolly Hog. Ultimately, three ended up being named the superior 'best buys' of the lot and it was Lidl's Deluxe Pork Sausages (£2.49 for 400g) sausages that topped the rankings with a score of 77%. Consumers loved their 'juicy texture', 'perfect meaty flavour' and said the 'herb and spice seasoning that hit the spot'. More Trending However, it's worth noting that Lidl's sausages are pretty high in saturated fat. Two sausages contain 11.5g, which is more than half the recommended daily maximum for women and more than a third for men. M&S came in second place with the Collection British Outdoor Bred Pork Sausages (£4.50 for 400g) came in second place with an overall score of 75%. The priciest of the bunch, these were well-liked sausages with good pork flavour, juiciness and salt levels relished by three-quarters of the tasters. View More » Two-thirds said they enjoyed the texture, but while 58% said seasoning was well-balanced, the remainder were divided on whether it was too much or too little. Schneider Electric and EcoXpert Partner Advanced Power Technology Win 'Data Centre Consolidation / Upgrade Project of the Year' at the DCS Awards 2025
Longstanding partners win prestigious award for their work to deploy an innovative modular data centre at The Pirbright Institute – future proofing computing capacity Delivered ahead of its 12-week schedule, the system meets the Institutes requirement for a scalable, resilient, and energy efficient infrastructure – allowing it to accelerate ground-breaking scientific collaboration and compete for new projects LONDON, May 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Schneider Electric™, the global leader in energy management and automation, has won the 'Data Centre Consolidation/Upgrade Project of the Year' category at the DCS Awards 2025, alongside its longstanding EcoXpert Partner, Advanced Power Technology (APT). Together, the company's deployed a new modular data centre at The Pirbright Institute, enabling it to stay abreast of new technological advancements, including artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC), and fast track its scientific and viral research programmes. The new 'Containerised Data Centre (CDC)' met the Institute's requirement for a scalable, resilient, flexible, and energy efficient infrastructure system that would ensure the highest levels of availability and continuity. "We are delighted to accept this award, which reflects our continued commitments to efficiency, innovation, and partner collaboration in the digital infrastructure sector," said Mark Yeeles, Vice President, Secure Power Division, Schneider Electric UK and Ireland. "This award further vindicates the role of data centres as the fourth utility and a vital part of life science research, and we're glad to be recognised alongside our trusted partners at APT for our work together at The Pirbright Institute." "We're proud to be recognised by the DCS Awards for our work to develop a new modular data centre at The Pirbright Institute, in partnership with Schneider Electric," said John Andrew, Solution Architect, Advanced Power Technology. "The new containerised facility provides Pirbright with a secure, flexible and scalable solution – enabling its users to conduct world-leading research, while supporting future technology evolutions." Future proofing research The Pirbright Institute is at the forefront of global viral research, operating as one of the UK's leading virus diagnostics and surveillance centres. As a world-leading centre of excellence it conducts research into the control and surveillance of virus diseases of farm animals, and viruses that spread from animals to humans. In recent years, it has undergone significant digital transformation, and as part of that process, leveraged an advanced data centre solution from APT and Schneider Electric to enable new levels of scientific collaboration – all while adhering to strict data sovereignty, storage, resiliency, and security standards. Due to the mission-critical nature of its research, and the need to provide continuity of service during any modernisation projects, the Institute had to identify a new strategy to build out its infrastructure to support future technological requirements for HPC and AI. First seeking a strategy to modernise its legacy IT and comms rooms and deploy them away from its existing buildings, it began to explore the benefits of a containerised data centre and engaged with APT to design and specify its new critical infrastructure system. As such, the Institute's new 'Containerised Data Centre (CDC)' uses key components from Schneider Electric's EcoStruxureä for Data Centres solutions portfolio, enabling APT to pre-configure its design and pre-test the solution off-site for faster deployment. The project was delivered in three phases and within a strict timeline of 12-weeks, ensuring minimal impact on the Institute's business and critical applications. With the containerised system at its core, Pirbright's infrastructure is future-proofed for new evolutions in high-tech research equipment such as sequencers, and diamond-light processes for virus analysis that can generate data sets of 700GB each. In turn, this allows them to leverage new advancements in HPC, AI and GPU-powered computing, enabling them to identify breakthroughs in viral research at a far faster rate. The approach has allowed The Pirbright Institute to bring its IT infrastructure in line with its development plans, ensuring it retains its place as the UK's foremost centre of excellence in research and surveillance of viral diseases. Furthermore, it has the flexibility and capacity to support scientists and researchers as they leverage state-of-the-art laboratories, and the specialised requirements of high-tech virology, HPC, and the vast data it produces – enabling it to further fast-track its knowledge and contributions to global health and welfare for animals with a solid IT foundation on which to develop ground-breaking research for decades to come. Chuck High Taxes
The Boston Tea Party by John Andrew, "Ballou's Pictorial", 1856. It represents the scene at Griffin's Wharf, Boston, on the night of December 16, 1773, when a band of Bostonians, thinly disguised as Indians, boarded three British Tea ships and threw overboard 342 chests of tea in protest against the British attempt to tax American tea consumption. BPA2# 5131. In a recent TV appearance, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D–NY) mocked taxpayers who complain about the level of government taxation. He implied that only a 'small group of wealthy, greedy people' who, he says, control the GOP are critical about how much our leaders are taking out of people's pockets. Polls show most Americans feel they're overtaxed. Next year marks our nation's 250th birthday. Out-of-touch Washington politicians like Senator Schumer resemble our former British overlords whose haughty attitudes on taxation and government oppression sparked a revolution.
