‘Real Housewives' Star Wonders If Stage 4 Cancer Was 'Payback' For Her Rumored Affair

Teddi Mellencamp opened up for the first time about a rumored affair with her horse trainer ― and how it affected her family and her health. The former 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' cast mate spoke about her alleged infidelity during an appearance on 'The Jamie Kern Lima Show.' 'I've never talked about it at all ― just because of the kids,' Mellencamp said during the interview, which was released Tuesday. Mellencamp, who was married at the time, shares three children with her now-ex-husband, Edwin Arroyave. 'And I've never wanted anybody to have a, you know, a guarantee whether it happened or didn't happen,' the reality star said. 'But what I can say is: Did I do things that hurt other people? Yes.' 'To this day, does it still hurt my heart and I wonder if that's why I got cancer?' Mellencamp said, as she began to cry. 'Yes. Like it was my payback.' Mellencamp, who is the daughter of famous singer John Cougar Mellencamp, was diagnosed with melanoma in 2022. She recently shared that her cancer had progressed to Stage 4, as her melanoma metastasized to her lungs and brain. 'Nothing goes without payment, I guess,' she said, adding that she was 'so broken as a human being during that part of my life that I did things out of my better judgment.' During the vulnerable interview, Mellencamp also spoke about her ex-husband's infidelity, which came to light just before she and her family starred on 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.' The podcaster said her husband was unfaithful with someone that she knew and that she had to 'beg Edwin to wanna stay with me.' 'I don't think he was in love with me at that point. I think we've gone through times in our marriage where we've been madly in love with each other, but that wasn't one of those times,' she said. 'And there was a while that I thought maybe I'll leave, and then it got better.' Mellencamp filed for divorce from Arroyave in November 2024 and announced the news on Instagram. 'After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,' she said at the time. 'My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter.' The former couple share three children together: Slate, 12; Cruz, 10; and Dove, 5. Related... Teddi Mellencamp's best friend 'in tears' as she shares major update on cancer treatment

Teddi Mellencamp is opening up about her Stage 4 cancer battle with a positive update on her immunotheraphy treatments. The 43-year-old reality star and daughter of singer John Cougar Mellencamp was diagnosed with Stage 2 melanoma skin cancer in 2022, which was upgraded to Stage 4 earlier this year after suffering from numerous brain tumors. She revealed in late April that the brain tumors have significantly shrunk and she's potentially just a few weeks away from being cancer-free. The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star offered another update on her Two T's In a Pod podcast with Tamra Judge, where she called in from her actual immunotherapy appointment. 'Today I had the scan and where they checked my lungs and they are shrinking and one of them has shrunk so much you can barely even see it,' she said. Her co-host Judge commented on her Instagram post that linked to their podcast, revealing she, 'can't stop crying tears of joy,' adding, 'I love you so much.' Her co-host Judge commented on her Instagram post that linked to their podcast, revealing she, 'can't stop crying tears of joy,' adding, 'I love you so much.' Mellencamp added, 'So it's really really good news. I'm definitely so relieved. I'm also a little bit like, if I sound a little weird, it's because I'm in the middle of them in a therapy treatment right now. But what they said was this is good news. That means my body is responding to everything. But I do need to live on immunotherapy for the next two years.' 'So every four weeks for the next two years, I have to come in and get that done. So and then every three months I get another scan and we check to make sure that everything is where it is,' she added. Teddi admitted she was a bit confused, adding, 'I thought that, like, once the tumors start going away, I'm like, so, does that mean I'm cancer free? And he's like no.' 'He's like you, we will let you know when you're in remission. But at this point, everything's just heading the correct way,' she added. When Tamra asked if the immunotherapy was 'curing' the cancer or 'controlling' it, Mellencamp said, 'both.' 'It's making sure that it's getting smaller and then let's say that it gets so small that it disappears. It's making sure that it won't form anywhere else in my body,' she said. She added, 'The reason they were able to do this treatment on me, because remember radiation didn't work and the tumors were getting bigger, and like I was only able to get certain surgeries is because over at Cedars Clinic. 'There is everything in one spot. So because of that, they can do multiple treatments and figure out what works for you individually. So I think what ends up happening to a lot of people,' Teddi said. Teddi said that was one reason she is, 'so grateful that I live in California,' adding, 'they go to you know, they have to go to all these different doctors at different locations, where mine is kind of like a one stop shop.' The update comes just a month after she said doctors gave her a 50/50 chance to survive her cancer. 'I am going to keep a positive outlook, because that's the way my doctor just spoke to me. He was like, "you did this. You got this."' Toward the end, she added that her doctor had jokingly reassured her, 'You got that Mellencamp blood, so you're good.' Teddi, who previously said she felt she was on her 'deathbed', was pictured smiling in the video, as she told her fans the positive news, admitting that the happy 'crying' was already done.
