Former Oregon Ducks TE Terrance Ferguson inks rookie deal with Los Angeles Rams

Former Oregon Ducks tight end Terrance Ferguson signed his rookie deal with the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday morning, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The four-year, $9,713,466 contract comes with $8,046,753 guaranteed. Ferguson was selected 46th overall in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, landing in a favorable spot with the Rams. He was the first Duck TE drafted since 2010, when the Pittsburgh Steelers selected David Paulson in the third round. The deal was signed later than usual, as second-round rookies and their agents have pushed for more guaranteed money on their rookie deals this offseason. Across four seasons with the Ducks, Ferguson left as Oregon's all-time leader among TE's in receptions (134) and ranked second all-time in receiving yards (1,537). He had an especially excellent 2024 campaign, finishing as an All-Big Ten third-team performer and was on the John Mackey Award watch list for the best tight end in the country in 2024. He tied the Oregon single-season record for receptions by a TE with 43 while finishing second in single-season history with 591 receiving yards. By the time the season ended, Ferguson was in the end zone three times in 2024 and totaled 16 touchdowns for his career. Now with the Rams, Ferguson has a chance to once again impress under head coach and offensive wiz Sean McVay. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is also one of the purest passers in the league, giving the former Duck a nice runway to begin his NFL career. Penn State tight end Luke Reynolds could be in for a breakout season in 2025

Many talented tight ends have passed through Penn State in recent seasons, with the last five starters at the position being drafted to the NFL. Continuing that line of star power is Luke Reynolds, who was the third-highest ranked tight end to ever commit to Penn State, per the 247Sports composite. Reynolds made a few splash plays last fall as a true freshman and seems poised to leap into a significant role in 2025. Here's a look at Reynolds as the season rapidly approaches. 2024 in review Reynolds' path to playing time was blocked by John Mackey Award winner and first-round talent Tyler Warren and veteran Khalil Dinkins. Despite his role as TE3, Reynolds showed his elite skillset with a clutch fourth-down conversion against Minnesota and a highlight reel touchdown against Purdue, showing fans why he was ranked a 5-star by 247Sports. He finished the year with nine receptions for 111 yards and one carry for 32 yards. Biggest question in 2025 With Warren, Penn State's leading pass-catcher off the the NFL, the Nittany Lions have big shoes to fill at the position. While it's highly unlikely Reynolds can match Warren's historic numbers from 2024, the question becomes how closely he can recreate the lost production in 2025. With three transfer wide receivers likely to lock down starting roles, quarterback Drew Allar may look to his tight ends for a dependable target. Can Reynolds prove to be a reliable pass-catcher to fill the void left by Warren, or will Allar have to rely more heavily on the wide receiver corps? 2025 will be a success if… Reynolds, a converted high school quarterback, is still relatively new to the position - but his upside is evident. If Reynolds can continue to grow into the role and develop as a blocker, he'll likely lock down the starting role over Dinkins, who specializes in pass-blocking. If Reynolds can take the reigns and continue to develop in the blocking game, his ceiling is extremely high and he could find himself in All-Big Ten territory. 2025 will be a disappointment if… If Reynolds' is unable to take a step forward and shows inconsistencies, he'll likely play second fiddle to Dinkins in 2025. With limited playing time, he'll burn another year of eligibility without a significant impact and the Nittany Lions' tight end production will falter in 2025. Realistic outlook for 2025 Reynolds will battle for the starting job, and if he wins out, will be in for a breakout season. He won't come close to Tyler Warren's 1,233 yards from a season ago, but could realistically accumulate half of that, still a very strong season for a tight end. His inexperience at the position may lead to some inconsistencies, like dropped passes or missed blocks, but his play-making ability will also provide some fireworks throughout the year.

USC football countdown to kickoff continues—Fred Davis in in focus

USC football countdown to kickoff continues—Fred Davis in in focus The countdown to USC's 2025 football season is officially on! The Trojans kick off their new campaign 83 days from today. You need something to help you while away the days and hours in the spring and summer. This is one way to do so. In this new series, countdown to kickoff, we will be counting down the days by highlighting a notable Trojan who wore each number. Today, we take a look at USC All-American tight end Fred Davis. Position: Tight end Years played at USC: 2004-2007 Career highlights: Davis spent his first two years at USC in a reserve role, behind starting tight ends Dominque Byrd and Alex Holmes, before becoming a starter as a junior in 2006. As a senior in 2007, he had a breakout season, catching 62 passes for 881 yards and eight touchdowns. For his performance that season, he was named an All-American and won the John Mackey Award as the top tight end in the country. After USC: Davis was selected in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins. He would go on to play six seasons in the league, all with Washington. His most career receiving yards in a season were 796 in 2011, and his most touchdowns were six in 2009. In 2014, Davis was suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He was reinstated a year later, but would never play another game in the league.

Previewing the 2025 season for Penn State TE Luke Reynolds with his player profile

Previewing the 2025 season for Penn State TE Luke Reynolds with his player profile Going into the 2025 football season, Nittany Lions Wire will examine each player listed on the Penn State roster. Over the preseason, each profile will cover the player's background, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for James Franklin this season. Replacing John Mackey Award winner Tyler Warren won't be easy, but tight end Luke Reynolds flashed his talent in limited time last season and will contend for the starting role in 2025. The true sophomore appeared in all 16 games last season and was impressive as a pass-catcher and blocker. Reynolds is likely remembered for a special teams trick play against Minnesota which helped Penn State seal the game, but he'll likely produce plenty more highlight reel plays this season with more playing time. Preseason Player Profile Hometown: Westford, Massachusetts Height: 6-4 Weight: 252 lb Class in 2025: Sophomore Recruiting Rankings Class of 2024: 5-star recruit by 247Sports, 4-star recruit by other outlets, No. 1 tight end (247Sports) Reynolds arrived on campus as the third-highest rated tight end recruit in program history, behind only Adam Breneman in 2013 and Theo Johnson in 2020. 247Sports was especially high on him, placing him as the No. 1 tight end and No. 1 Massachusetts recruit in the 2024 class. Career Stats Games Receptions Yards Touchdowns Yards per reception 2024 16 9 111 1 12.3 Depth Chart Overview Though he was playing behind the top tight end in all of college football last season, the path has cleared up for Reynolds to make a run at the TE1 spot. His biggest competition for the role comes from veteran Khalil Dinkins, but it'll be hard to hold off Reynolds, who's been extremely impressive throughout winter workouts and spring practices.
