Teenager faces murder charge in deadly Henderson marijuana robbery

HENDERSON, Nev. (KLAS) — An 18-year-old faces charges including murder for the shooting death of a 19-year-old during what police suspect was a marijuana robbery gone wrong. John Mancuso is accused of killing Treyvon Jackson on July 22 at an apartment complex near Warm Springs Road and Green Valley Parkway. Jackson died from a gunshot wound to his torso, the coroner's office ruled. A witness first told police she and Jackson arrived at the complex to buy an electric bike, documents said. She told police that during the sale, a man wearing a ski mask jumped out from behind a car and shot Jackson. Through subsequent investigation, police determined the sale actually involved marijuana and possibly trading marijuana for a bike, documents said. '[The witness] knew that [Jackson] had made an agreement to sell the marijuana for $700, but she did not know if they were going to trade for the bike or if Treyvon would be receiving cash for the purchase,' police said. 'Treyvon had the marijuana stored inside [a] backpack, which, when located at the crime scene, was empty and there was no marijuana inside.' The witness later identified Jackson as a man she and Jackson met in the parking lot for the marijuana sale before the shooting, documents said. The FBI Criminal Apprehension Team arrested Mancuso on July 28, records said. In addition to open murder with a deadly weapon, Mancuso faces charges of robbery with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery. It was not immediately clear if police suspected there were outstanding individuals connected to the case. At the time of the release of their investigation press release, Henderson police said 'no suspects' were identified. Police did not issue a follow-up press release for Mancuso's arrest. Mancuso remained detained without bail at the Clark County Detention Center as of Monday. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Tuesday. The shooting marked Henderson's fourth homicide for 2025.
