A Former Employee of Polo Bar Is Suing for Alleged Sexual Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation
is the lead editor of the Northeast region with more than 20 years of experience as a reporter, critic, editor, and cookbook author. One of the most exclusive bars in the city — The Polo Bar, which opened at 1 E. 55th Street, at Fifth Avenue, in 2015 — is being sued by a former employee. The ex-server and bartender claims that the Ralph Lauren-branded restaurant, a haunt for the likes of Jon Hamm, the Clintons, Drew Barrymore, Oprah Winfrey, and Jennifer Lopez, allegedly fosters a culture that tolerates widespread sexual discrimination and harassment; sexual assault; rampant drug use and alcohol consumption at work; and retaliation against employees who complain to human resources, according to a lawsuit filed earlier this week. The plaintiff demands a trial and seeks lost wages, punitive damages, and attorney fees. Frank Nobiletti, a veteran of the hospitality industry, worked as a server and bartender at the Polo Bar for seven years beginning in 2017. He claims he experienced 'terrible sexual harassment' after a manager allegedly outed him as bisexual. The issues escalated after the restaurant reopened post-COVID in 2021, at which point, he claims, coworkers began verbally harassing him, making sexually explicit comments, including remarks about wanting to watch him have sex with his wife. Nobiletti describes alleged incidents of sexual assault, including two involving managers, with one allegedly touching his inner thigh and the other grabbing his butt. The lawsuit also claims those same managers were not disciplined, and one was promoted despite allegedly allowing harassment. The lawsuit also outlines an allegedly hostile work environment for women, claiming multiple incidents 'upon information and belief,' though female employees aren't a part of the lawsuit. The suit claims one long-time server showed nude photos of women they were dating to employees and that 'multiple female staff members' complained about a so-called 'Rating Game' of female customers' attractiveness. Some male servers also allegedly joked about 'putting it in' with a particular coworker. When employees reported these concerns, human resources allegedly failed to act, according to the lawsuit. Some managers regularly yelled at staff, threatened to fire them, or falsely accused them of misconduct, according to the lawsuit. One manager allegedly 'frequently condescended to female managers in front of other staff,' with no disciplinary action. The suit further claims that Nobiletti reached out to HR — both personally and through legal counsel — starting in fall 2023. In February 2024, he was fired for drinking on the job. Nobiletti contends the firing was retaliatory and that drug and alcohol use among staff had long gone unchecked. The lawsuit alleges, 'management and staff regularly drank alcohol and used illegal drugs during work hours with little to no consequences.' One server, the suit claims, was so drunk they couldn't finish their shift and faced little repercussion. The suit also claims an intoxicated manager allegedly punched a door while threatening a coworker. The restaurant's wine room was reportedly a frequent site of cocaine use, according to the lawsuit, with one employee allegedly acting as a dealer. At private events, the lawsuit claims that 'with management's knowledge and approval,' employees consumed alcohol meant for customers. In some cases, staff allegedly charged clients extra, then drank the difference. One employee is accused of 'fraudulently altering customers' tips if he felt the tip was inadequate.' The lawsuit claims that 'upon information and belief,' this employee was not disciplined until 2023 – despite that he allegedly had been altering tips since 2015. The Polo Bar refutes Nobiletti's allegations. 'We have high standards for how employees conduct themselves and no tolerance for misconduct, so we take swift action when these standards are not met,' the restaurant said in a statement to Eater. 'This includes Mr. Nobiletti's termination that was based on clear evidence of his misconduct. Because we take all employee-related concerns seriously, we thoroughly investigated Mr. Nobiletti's allegations and determined they have no merit.' The Polo Bar has not yet filed a response to the complaint. A spokesperson continued that Nobiletti's attorneys were sent a letter last fall 'detailing his behavior following his termination that made Polo Bar employees uncomfortable.' Nobiletti has not had the opportunity to respond. Since 2020, Polo Bar has been managed by Apicii LLC. Before that, the restaurant was run by Gibsons Restaurant Group.

Emmys Nominations Snubs: ‘Squid Game' Shut Out, ‘Handmaid's Tale' Only Lands One Nod — Uzo Aduba Surprises
The 2025 Emmy Awards failed to recognize a number of longtime favorites with nominations, with past winners Squid Game, Elisabeth Moss, Jon Hamm, Ted Danson and past nominees Yellowjackets and Selena Gomez not nominated this year. Squid Game, which won six Emmys including the top prize of best drama actor for Lee Jung-jae for its first season in 2022, saw its second season completely absent from this year's nominations. The hit Netflix series' third and final season will be eligible for next year's awards. More from The Hollywood Reporter Bela Bajaria on Which Emmy Nominee She Texted First and One Giant "Disappointment" of a Snub 'The White Lotus' Checks Into the 2025 Emmy Noms With 23, Ties With 'The Studio' Apple's Matt Cherniss on Record Emmy Haul and 'Studio' Breakthrough: "Great All the Way Around" Similarly, The Handmaid's Tale was once so adored by Emmy voters that it received multiple nominations in 2019 solely off of hanging episodes. The adaptation of Margaret Atwood's best-selling novel of the same name, which won best drama series for its first season in 2017, only scored one nomination for Cherry Jones' guest role, leaving out the rest of its acclaimed cast, including star Moss, who also could have scored a directing nod. Yellowjackets landed 10 nominations for its first two seasons but zero for its third, recently wrapped season. And Jon Hamm, a perennial nominee for Mad Men before his long-awaited victory in 2015, didn't make it back into the nominations fold for his first series starring role since Mad Men in Your Friends & Neighbors, which was only nominated for its theme song. Also shut out this year were A Man on the Inside (including its star and past Emmy winner Ted Danson); Ellen Pompeo for her starring role in Good American Family, which failed to receive any nominations; and acclaimed series Running Point, St. Denis Medical and Taylor Sheridan's Landman. Surprising omissions from the acting categories included Andor star Diego Luna, not included among the show's 14 nominations; Selena Gomez, not nominated for her starring role in Only Murders in the Building after making the cut in the acting category last year; seven-time Emmy winner (and Oscar winner) Allison Janney, not nominated for her role as Vice President Grace Penn in season two of The Diplomat; Day of the Jackal star Eddie Redmayne; the Mountainhead actors, who were not nominated despite the Emmys' past support of Succession writer-director Jesse Armstrong (the film itself was nominated for best TV movie); the handful of White Lotus actors not nominated including Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sam Nivola, Michelle Monaghan and Leslie Bibb; The Studio standout Chase Sui Wonders, not nominated despite the show's 23 nominations; The Penguin's Rhenzy Feliz; Interview With the Vampire actor Jacob Anderson; and Monsters' Nicholas Alexander Chavez. In terms of specific categories, the talk series category's reduction to only three nomination slots left out hopefuls like Late Night With Seth Meyers, Hot Ones and Everybody's Live With John Mulaney. And Meyers and Jamie Foxx missed out on nods for their stand-up specials, respectively Dad Man Walking and What Had Happened Was, with Foxx's medical emergency serving as the subject of his Netflix special. In terms of surprises, Meghann Fahy was a somewhat unexpected inclusion in the best actress in a limited series category for her role in Sirens, which was left out of the series and other acting categories, as was Uzo Aduba's best actress in a comedy series nod for her starring role in The Residence. While Aduba's performance was acclaimed, the show's cancellation after just one season makes her nomination somewhat surprising. Meanwhile, Hulu's Paradise may have landed more nominations in top categories than awards experts predicted. And Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino's Étoile landed two nominations despite distributor Prime Video revealing before Emmy nominations voting began that it wouldn't proceed with the previously ordered second season. Pixar Heads to the Forest in Adorable Trailer for Its New Bear Adventure 'Hoppers'
NEED TO KNOW Pixar released the first trailer for its new movie Hoppers on Wednesday, July 16 The movie follows a young woman named Mabel who uses newly-created technology to import her mind into a robotic beaver, enabling her to communicate with the animal kingdom Piper Curda, Bobby Moynihan and Jon Hamm star in the movie's voice cast; the film is in theaters March 6, 2026Pixar is unveiling its next movie! On Wednesday, July 16, the legendary animation studio released the first trailer for its new animal-themed movie Hoppers, which introduces audiences to Mabel, a young woman voiced by Piper Curda (May December, Matlock), who is given access to newly created technology by scientists at the fictional Beaverton University that allows humans to step inside the mind of an animal. When Mabel steps inside the mind of a robotic beaver that the scientists have created for her, she ventures out into the wild for the first time with an entirely new perspective on the animal kingdom and has an alarming meeting with another beaver and a bear who threatens to eat the poor creature — only to learn that Mabel has upset "the natural order" of the wild. "In 'Hoppers,' the question we're answering is: 'What if we could understand and communicate with the animal world?'' the movie's director, Daniel Chong, said in a statement about the trailer's release. 'Our main character, Mabel, gets to discover the animal kingdom as an animal, which can be weird and often hilarious. Mabel undercover in the animal world leads to a wild, roller coaster ride of a movie, with all the heart you expect from a classic Pixar film. It's going to be so much fun to watch in the theater; I can't wait for everyone to see it.' An official synopsis for Hoppers reads that "scientists have discovered how to 'hop' human consciousness into lifelike robotic animals, allowing people to communicate with animals as animals!" "Using the new technology, Mabel will uncover mysteries within the animal world that are beyond anything she could have imagined," the synopsis adds. ‘Hoppers' Teaser Trailer Introduces Your New Favorite Pixar Movie
Pixar's 'Hoppers' arrives in theaters next spring but a new teaser trailer for the movie, directed by Daniel Chong, has just been released. It'll give you a good feel for the movie. And you will probably giggle heartily. Watch it below. 'Hoppers' takes place in a world where a fringe scientific group has created a technology that allows humans to 'hop' into robotic animals, which allows for them to interact with other creatures. Mabel Tanaka (Piper Curda) volunteers to undergo the process, and she hops into the body of a beaver. She gets to know the leader of the pond, a beaver named King George (Bobby Moynihan) and attempts to thwart the efforts of a greedy mayor named Mayor Jerry (Jon Hamm). TV Launches Hong Kong Fight Club FAST Channel This August, Featuring John Woo, Jackie Chan Classics | Exclusive The movie was officially introduced at the D23 fan event in August 2024, by Pixar chief executive officer Pete Docter. Last month at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Docter showed off a good chunk of the film, including a sequence so funny it made us cry. Additionally, there was a post-credits scene attached to Pixar's 'Elio' that featured a small tease of the movie. Apparently both Pixar and Disney senior leadership are incredibly bullish and excited by the movie, and you can tell by the teaser featuring a big part of a full scene (the scene where Mabel saves the beaver from the bear). It's such a wonderful, charming premise, and based on everything we've seen, it's been executed perfectly. 'Hoppers' hits theaters on March 6, 2026.
