Llandovery Community Cinema hosts film and barn dance event

Llandovery Community Cinema is preparing for a night of fun with a special screening of the film "Cymer Dy Siar" (Take Your Share) on Saturday, August 16, at Rhys Prichard Memorial Hall. The event is part of the cinema's Welsh Language Film Programme, funded by Ffilm Cymru, which aims to introduce Welsh-language films to wider audiences. The film, featuring Pobol y Cwm stars Donna Edwards and Jonathan Nefydd, tells the humorous and heartfelt story of a three-sister country and western band navigating life, love, and loyalty in rural Wales. It is based on the popular S4C series Tair Chwaer and will be shown with English subtitles, making it accessible to all. The film, filled with toe-tapping tunes, blends Western vibes with Welsh voices, transporting viewers into a world of music and meaning. But the evening does not end with the film. Audience members are invited to bring their own drinks and join in a barn dance led by an instructor, promising a night of shared fun and laughter. The event is set to start at 5.30pm, with a community meal at 6pm. Guests are encouraged to bring a plate to share, fostering an atmosphere of good conversation and camaraderie. The film will be screened at 7pm, followed by the barn dance at 8.30pm, which will continue late into the night. Tickets for the entire evening are priced at £5 and can be purchased in person at the Llandovery Youth and Community Centre in Market Square, online via TicketSource, or on the door, subject to availability. This unique community event is not just a cinema night; it's an opportunity to immerse oneself in Welsh culture, language, and community spirit. With its unique blend of film and dance, it promises to be an evening of storytelling, shared food, and toe-tapping fun. For more information, contact ffilmllanymddyfri@
