Who will fill the vacancy Ben Baker left behind?
(KODE & KSN) — The resignation of a southwest Missouri lawmaker means there's no state representative currently serving the 160th district. That could change—depending on Governor Mike Kehoe.
He can choose to set a special election to fill the remaining time in the term, which would last through the end of 2026. That would include choosing a date for the election, likely in November.

There would be no primary, meaning each political party operating in the 160th district would choose a nominee to appear on that ballot.
Ben Baker was appointed to lead the Missouri operations of USDA Rural Development and subsequently resigned his seat to move into his new role. He had served the 160th District in the Missouri House since 2019.
