25-year-old killed in Wareham crash remembered for his humor and compassionate nature
A 25-year-old who died in a motor vehicle crash in Wareham on July 25, was remembered for 'his caring and compassionate nature' and was 'always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need,' according to his obituary.
At around 5:05 p.m. on July 25, Wareham police responded to a crash near 2628 Cranberry Hwy., according to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz's office. Emergency personnel found Jordan Anthony Hansen on the ground with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Tobey Hospital in Wareham before being taken to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, where he died of his injuries.
Raymond Cardoza, a 67-year-old man, is facing drunken driving, manslaughter and hit-and-run charges in connection with the crash, according to Cruz's office.
Cardoza and his car were found a quarter-mile from the crash scene. He was arrested after being identified as the driver involved in the crash, Cruz's office said.
Cardoza has been charged with operating under the influence resulting in manslaughter, operating under the influence — 4th offense, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
Hansen was born in New Bedford and lived in nearby Mattapoisett all his life, his obituary reads.
He graduated from Old Rochester Regional High School in 2018, going on to obtain an Associate's Degree in Automotive Technology from Massachusetts Bay Community College. He worked as an automotive technician at a GMC in Wareham.
Outside of work, Hansen enjoyed activities such as fishing at the Mattapoisett train bridge, snowboarding in New Hampshire, playing pool and biking.
'He seldom missed an opportunity to spend time with his friends,' Hansen's obituary reads. 'His sense of humor and love for good company will be deeply missed."
A funeral service for Hansen will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9 at 9 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 16 Temple Place in Fairhaven.
