Faison has also made an impact on the gridiron as a two-sport athlete for Notre Dame's football and lacrosse programs. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida native has showcased skills compatible in both football and lacrosse. Moreover, he has played at a championship caliber in both sports. As a freshman in 2023-24, he helped Notre Dame lacrosse win its second consecutive national title. As a sophomore in 2024-25, he and the Fighting Irish football program fell to Ohio State in the College Football Playoff national title game. A win there would have been the Fighting Irish's first football title in nearly four decades. Here's what to know about Faison ahead of Sunday's NCAA men's lacrosse quarterfinal game: What sports does Jordan Faison play? Faison plays for Notre Dame in football and lacrosse, sports in which he competes as a wide receiver and midfielder, respectively. "Both sports go hand in hand," Faison told ESPN's "College Football Live" ahead of the College Football Playoff semifinal vs. Penn State on how lacrosse helps him in football. "When you're in football, you got the cornerback lining up in front of you and you got to make moves on him while seeing the back of the defense and safeties rotate. "Then lacrosse, it's the same thing (and) same idea. You got to a defender guarding you and you got defenses rotating behind and you got to make decisions based off that. They go hand in hand and pretty much complement each other." In the final seven games of the season, Faison finished with 19 catches for 322 yards and ranked second on the team with four touchdowns. He was also named the MVP of the Irish's bowl game. Faison carried that momentum to lacrosse, where he made an immediate impact for coach Kevin Corrigan and the Irish: He started all 17 games as a freshman while totaling 30 points off 22 goals. He also had 17 ground balls and six caused turnovers. He has followed up with nine goals and three assists this season as a sophomore. He has only made eight starts in 11 games this season after missing each of the first two games due to the elongated football season, which was extended this year by Notre Dame's appearance in the CFP title game. Though he didn't start the season at the same time as the rest of his teammates, Faison's production has picked up over the last four games, as he has recorded at least a goal in three of them. "I think he's done an amazing job of keeping himself motivated on a daily basis," Notre Dame coach Kevin Corrigan said on May 9. "But there's a price to be paid for trying to do everything. That's part of the deal." Added Faison on how he's been finding his stride in recent weeks: "Definitely ascending. Around the peaking area, too. You have to be at this point in the season. It's win or go home, so you have to put it all out there right now." Notre Dame brings former player Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa back to its front office
Notre Dame brings former player Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa back to its front office The Fighting Irish alum will be working on recruiting. Notre Dame will welcome a former player into its front-office ranks as part of the postseason personnel shuffle. In addition to making the hiring of Jourdan Blake official, the Fighting Irish have announced that alum Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa will be working for the team as Director of Recruiting Advancement. Ariella Ellis joins as Director of On-Campus Recruiting. New general manager Mike Martin is filling out his staff just in time for spring ball. Martin replaced Chad Bowden, who decamped for rival USC. With Notre Dame looking to return to the College Football Playoff -- and perhaps to win the national championship, instead of falling just short as the Irish did last season -- the strength of the front office will be just as important as the quality of coaching, especially in the era of NIL. Tagovailoa-Amosa played five years at Notre Dame as a defensive lineman. He had 79 tackles -- 49 solo -- forced two fumbles and recovered four, including one for a touchdown. He also had five sacks. He signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2022 but did not make the team. He was on the practice squad before being placed on the injured list. He worked for the LSU Tigers last season as a graduate assistant, coaching the defensive side of the ball. We are excited to announce some updates and new additions to our football personnel staff ☘️ Welcome to the Irish family, Jourdan and Ariella Welcome home, Myron #GoIrish☘️ — Notre Dame Football (@NDFootball) March 18, 2025 Contact/Follow us @IrishWireND on X (Formerly Twitter), and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Notre Dame news, notes, and opinions. Does Notre Dame have another lacrosse player that can star for the football team?
Does Notre Dame have another lacrosse player that can star for the football team? If you didn't already know, Notre Dame Lacrosse is a powerhouse program, as they are in search of its 3rd straight National Championship this year. We already know a good amount about one of the two-sport starts, Jordan Faison, but could there be another that dabbles in the same sports? On3's Mike Singer believes there is, as he mentioned on social media that Matt Jeffery has shown flashes for the football team as well. Jeffrey is a 5-foot, 11-inch and 195-pound recover, who saw time on special teams during his freshman year. It's not that he's just a good lacrosse player, he's an exceptional one, as he was named as the 2023 USA TODAY National High School Boys Lacrosse Player of the Year. It really would be something to see two lacrosse-football stars for the Irish playing at extremely high levels for both programs. Hopefully Singer's information isn't incorrect, as this would be quite a story. Jordan Faison powers Notre Dame lacrosse past Georgetown
Notre Dame lacrosse won 11-9 over Georgetown to move to 3-0. The No. 1 Fighting Irish got a key goal from football and lacrosse star Jordan Faison. Chris Kavanagh had three goals and an assist and Will Angrick and Jalen Seymour each had two goals. Faison made it 9-6 to with a goal in his first game back with the lacrosse team -- the tally came with 13:30 remaining in the fourth. Notre Dame jumped out to a 6-0 lead before Georgetown roared back to tie it at 6. Then the Irish ripped off four in a row, including Faison's, before Georgetown got three more to narrow it to 10-9. But a Kavanagh goal provided the necessary insurance. Consider this one a bit of a revenge game, as the Hoyas are the only team to beat the Irish in the regular season last year.
