Minister of Labor Inaugurates Phase One of the Northeastern Badia Vocational Training Institute - Jordan News

Dr. Khaled Al-Bakkar, Minister of Labor and Chairman of the Board of the Vocational Training Corporation, inaugurated on Thursday the first phase of the integrated Northeastern Badia Vocational Training Institute project. اضافة اعلان The institute will be constructed in three phases: the first phase was completed this year, while the second and third phases are scheduled for completion in 2026 and 2027, respectively. In its initial phase, the institute offers training programs in sewing, beauty, digital skills, and modern agriculture (specifically vegetable and fruit drying). The scope of programs will expand over the next two years. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mafraq Governor Firas Abu Ghanem, Senator Rakan Al-Fawwaz, Director General of the Vocational Training Corporation Dr. Ahmad Gharaibeh, board members, the mayor of Al-Salihiyah Municipality Eng. Najeh Al-Safyan, and a number of local dignitaries and residents. Minister Al-Bakkar stated that the launch of the first phase of the Northeastern Badia Institute reflects the government's commitment to advancing vocational training programs to become high-quality pathways for preparing young men and women for modern labor market demands. This initiative aligns with the Economic Modernization Vision and the Public Sector Modernization Roadmap, both of which emphasize the importance of enhancing the quality of education and training. He affirmed the government's belief that human capital is Jordan's most valuable resource, highlighting that youth in the Badia region, like their counterparts in major cities, possess potential and ambition worthy of investment to generate local employment opportunities. Al-Bakkar also emphasized that the top priority of the Ministry of Labor and affiliated institutions is to employ Jordanians across all regions and promote decentralized development, tailored to the competitive advantages of each governorate. He noted that preparatory work is underway for agricultural training programs in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, set to begin next month. He added that registration is now open for youth in the region to enroll in the current training programs, with more than 150 applicants already registered. The minister urged young people to pursue vocational and technical training, which can open doors to employment across a wide range of sectors.

Free Electricity on the Horizon for Jordanians - Jordan News

The idea of 'free electricity' in a country burdened by chronic financial pressures may sound like a far-fetched luxury. However, global experiences and economic realities suggest that investing in renewable energy, particularly solar and wind, is not only feasible but increasingly cheaper and more sustainable than traditional energy sources. اضافة اعلان Jordan, like many energy-importing countries, currently spends large sums on electricity subsidies and energy imports. With a strategic shift, these funds could be redirected to building a national renewable energy infrastructure with near-zero operational costs. Over time, this would allow electricity to be provided at minimal or even zero cost, especially for critical sectors like healthcare and education. This notion is no longer just theoretical. In a recent and symbolic move, the Jordanian government held a Cabinet session in the Tafileh Industrial City, where it announced a series of economic decisions. Most notable among them was the three-year exemption from electricity charges for newly registered or established factories and companies. While the initiative targets the industrial sector, it signals a deeper strategic shift in how the state views energy, development, and its relationship with citizens. So, the question arises: Can electricity become free for Jordanians? It's a bold and provocative question, but worth serious discussion. Jordan enjoys one of the world's highest solar exposure rates, and has ample natural resources to become a leader in renewable energy production. Why not launch a national initiative to provide low-cost or free energy, at least as a social right for vulnerable and essential sectors? With a new government led by Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan, known for its reformist agenda and commitment to partnership and results, this conversation becomes even more relevant. Recent Cabinet decisions—from cutting industrial land prices to 5 JD per square meter, to allowing cheaper truck imports and settling contractor dues—show this is a government of action, not rhetoric. Tafileh, once a quiet southern governorate, could now become the launchpad for a national economic and social model. If the free-electricity experiment boosts local industry, creates jobs, and drives growth, why not expand it to Karak, Ma'an, Mafraq, Irbid, and beyond? In conclusion, the government isn't expected to provide free electricity tomorrow. But it must believe in the dream, and in the power of scientific planning and clean energy investment to make it a reality. Nations that lead their people into the future often begin with a single brave step—and perhaps, Tafileh was that step.

Jordan's 79th Independence Day: A Celebration of Restoring the Jordanian National Identity - Jordan News

I deliberately delayed writing about Jordan's 79th Independence Day celebrations, choosing instead to observe how Jordanians truly engaged with this national occasion. From the streets and public squares to universities, institutions, and social media platforms, the atmosphere deserved careful reflection—far from the routine phrases and clichés that often accompany such commemorations. اضافة اعلان Observers across journalism, politics, and public opinion agree: this year's celebrations were extraordinary—both in quantity and quality. The energy was electric, the participation massive. It felt less like a traditional holiday and more like a live reenactment of that pivotal moment in 1946 when Jordan declared its independence. The people didn't simply mark a date; they embraced a moment of national affirmation. Whether the result of top-level planning or grassroots momentum, the celebration struck a deep emotional chord with Jordanians. The spontaneous joy, children donning traditional dress, flags fluttering from balconies and cars, and patriotic chants echoed across neighborhoods—all painted a picture of a people proudly reclaiming their national spirit. What stood out this year wasn't just a commemoration of independence—it was the recovery of a national identity some had tried to dilute. Certain toxic narratives had attempted to weaken Jordanians' sense of belonging, but this year's celebration was a collective declaration: our identity is not up for debate. It was as though Jordanians were reclaiming their voice, their pride, and their legacy from those who sought to erase it under the guise of false narratives and borrowed ideologies. Jordanian institutions—security, media, and cultural—have played a vital role in revealing and countering efforts to disrupt the national fabric. Jordanians now see things clearly, through their own eyes—not through filtered lenses. And so, when they celebrated, they celebrated with awareness first, and independence second. They celebrated a country that stood firm in a turbulent region, led by a leadership that has skillfully navigated countless challenges. Today, in this age of heightened national consciousness, Jordanians no longer pay attention to those who question their right to rejoice. Those voices—often loyal to foreign agendas—have been exposed. Jordanians see through the contradiction: those who attack national pride are often the loudest in celebrating foreign causes, even those openly hostile to Jordan. This duplicity no longer deceives the Jordanian citizen, who now proudly embraces his identity, his heritage, and his flag. This Independence Day was not just a celebration of sovereignty—it was a celebration of clarity, resilience, and self-worth. So rejoice, Jordanians—rejoice with pride and without restraint. No one deserves joy more than you. You have protected this nation with consciousness and loyalty. You didn't inherit a ready-made country; you built it, protected it, and carried it forward through hardship and hope. Raise your flags high, sing for your homeland, and cherish your leadership. You've earned this joy—and may your days be filled with celebration, always.
