'Secret' Costco codes all shoppers need to know about
It's good news for Costco shoppers and people who love a bargain Calling all bargain hunters and fans of Costco - if you want to save money and get a better bargain than at your local supermarket, then you might want to make some room in your home and jump in the car. Jordon Cox, known as Britain's Coupon King, took to Instagram to advise shoppers to watch out for one key detail when visiting any of the 29 Costco stores across the UK. This is because there's a secret code that could help you save a pretty penny if you spot it. He shared: "When you're shopping - have a look out for these codes on the pricing labels. "If you find an asterisk in the top corner - that item isn't being restocked. Maybe grab a few if you want it! "If a price ends in .97 - then it's been discounted by Costco! If it ends in .49 .69 .79 etc - then the manufacturer have put a deal on it." Jordon, who has appeared on ITV 's This Morning, points out that Costco's prices can often be cheaper than other supermarkets. So, if you're unsure, it's likely worth buying, as the chances of finding a better deal elsewhere are slim. He continues: "And finally, if you see something ending in .99 - it's full price & nothing special." In other videos, he's even shared 'secret supermarket codes' - so if you shop in Tesco, listen up. He reveals that "Clubcard offers at Tesco have expiry dates in code on their shelves." So, if you spot an offer on something you want, be sure to check the number - it might not be available the next time you shop. Telling shoppers what to look for, he said: "Find a six digit number that starts '25'. The last two grouped digits are the day, the middle two are the month, and the first two are the year."

Secret supermarket codes revealed including Tesco Clubcard trick – how many do YOU know?
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE cost of a weekly shop keeps rising - but secret codes could be the key to helping you save money, speed up your shop and make your food last longer. Britain's Coupon King Jordon Cox reveals how to crack supermarket codes and find hidden savings on shelves. 5 The Coupon King Jordon Cox explains how to save money at the supermarket 5 Jordon reveals a fruit and veg trick and secret lower case 'e' code Fruit and veg 'best before' dates Have you noticed that supermarkets have stopped putting 'best before' dates on some fruit and veg? This allows you to decide whether food's gone bad - and prevent unnecessary waste. 5 Keep an eye out for these codes on bags of fruit and vegetables Credit: Jordon Cox But if you really did want to know when things should be used by - there's a secret code that you can decipher, that's usually just for the staff. On the packaging near the batch code, you'll find a letter followed by two numbers. The letters will be between A-L, and will correspond with the month of the year. A = January, B = February and so on, up to L being December. The two numbers you find beside it will give you the date. This will be from 01 up to 31. So as an example, if you saw the code E20… you'll know the use by date is May 20th. If you want to buy produce that will last a little while longer, you can use this hack to buy the ones with the longest date on them. Lower case 'e' If you ever look at the weight of an item and find a large lower case 'e' next to the weights, then there's a reason for it. This tells you the estimated weight for the product and that it won't weigh less than this amount. 5 There is a hidden meaning in this letter 'e' on the back of certain products Credit: Jordon Cox For example, if you picked up a bag of basmati rice for 250g and it has this symbol it could be a few grams more. It might not make much of a difference - but every little helps when you're trying to save money. Tesco Clubcard trick If you shop in Tesco, then you know it's essential to have a Clubcard to unlock cheaper prices. If your favourite item is on offer it's tempting to stock up - but this could lead to you overspending. 5 The code on this tag tells you when the Tesco Clubcard offer will end Credit: Jordon Cox However, there is a code on the shelf that helps you decide whether you need to or not. It's a six digit number on the left hand side of the ticket which staff use to indicate when a deal will end - but it's in reverse. For example, 250422 - shows that the deal will end on 22 April 2025. The first two digits are the year, the middle two are the month and the last two are the day. If you see the deal is about to expire - this is your queue to stock up. How to save money on your food shop Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save hundreds of pounds a year: Odd boxes - plenty of retailers offer slightly misshapen fruit and veg or surplus food at a discounted price. Lidl sells five kilos of fruit and veg for just £1.50 through its Waste Not scheme while Aldi shoppers can get Too Good to Go bags which contain £10 worth of all kinds of products for £3.30. Sainsbury's also sells £2 "Taste Me, Don't Waste Me" fruit and veg boxes to help shoppers reduced food waste and save cash. Food waste apps - food waste apps work by helping shops, cafes, restaurants and other businesses shift stock that is due to go out of date and passing it on to members of the public. Some of the most notable ones include Too Good to Go and Olio. Too Good to Go's app is free to sign up to and is used by millions of people across the UK, letting users buy food at a discount. Olio works similarly, except users can collect both food and other household items for free from neighbours and businesses. Yellow sticker bargains - yellow sticker bargains, sometimes orange and red in certain supermarkets, are a great way of getting food on the cheap. But what time to head out to get the best deals varies depending on the retailer. You can see the best times for each supermarket here. Super cheap bargains - sign up to bargain hunter Facebook groups like Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK where shoppers regularly post hauls they've found on the cheap, including food finds. "Downshift" - you will almost always save money going for a supermarket's own-brand economy lines rather than premium brands. The move to lower-tier ranges, also known as "downshifting" and hailed by consumer expert Martin Lewis, could save you hundreds of pounds a year on your food shop. Are you getting enough out of your Tesco Clubcard? Easy tricks to boost points and get up to double the value
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) MILLIONS of Tesco customers with a Clubcard can make the most of their points with a handful of simple tricks. Over 23million UK households are signed up to the supermarket's loyalty scheme, so if you don't have one, you've probably heard of it. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 We reveal how you can make the most of your Tesco Clubcard points Credit: Getty But even if you are signed up, you might not be making the most of all those hard-earned points. The Sun spoke to Tom Church, deals expert from Jordon Cox, Britain's "Coupon Kid" and Dan Evans, deals expert from HotUKDeals, who revealed their top tips for optimising your Clubcard points. Make the most of double points While you can spend Clubcard points on a future Tesco shop, they're also redeemable with any number of Tesco's partners. They used to be worth triple, but the retailer reduced this to double in summer 2023. You can redeem your points with more than 100 partners, but some are worth redeeming with more than others, Jordon said. He said: "I don't recommend doubling them up for places like theme parks and restaurants, because quite often you can get deals, coupons and vouchers for those elsewhere. "Instead, use your credit on retailers that are hard to get discounts on (ordinarily), such as Disney+, EasyJet Holidays, P&O and others." Boost points with little effort You might not know, but you can in fact earn Clubcard points for money spent through Tesco Mobile. The same goes for buying petrol at Tesco petrol stations. They're two ways to get Clubcard points with minimal effort. TOP TESCO BUYS Of course, only sign up to Tesco Mobile if you were going to anyway and only buy petrol if the price is right. Tom said: "If you're with Tesco Mobile, make sure your account is linked to your Clubcard number. "You can earn a point for every £1 spent either as a Pay-As-You-Go top up, or on your monthly bill. "Similarly, you'll get Clubcard points by filling up at a Tesco Petrol Station and scanning your card." How to save money at Tesco EVERY little helps when it comes to saving money at Tesco. The Sun's Head of Consumer Tara Evans explains how you can save money at the UK's biggest supermarket. Clubcard points Tesco first launched it's loyalty scheme back in 1995. You get one point for every £1 you spend in store. If you spend points in store then 100 points is worth £1. You can spend your points via its reward partners and get triple and even sometimes quadruple the value. Extend Clubcard points You can find lost Clubvcard points and find the last two years of unused vouchers by logging into the Tesco Clubcard site. Clubcard prices If you don't have a Clubcard then you will miss out on its cheaper Clubcard prices. However, don't forget to check prices before you shop because it might not be cheaper than elsewhere, especially on big value items like washing powder and loo roll. Yellow stickers Shops do vary the time they reduce groceries with yellow stickers but Tesco tends to be between 7pm and 9pm. Save money if you shop online If you get your Tesco food shop delivered then it might be worth buying a delivery saver pass to help cut the cost of delivery fees. If you live near a Tesco then you can get click and collect slots of as little as 25p, so it might be cheaper than getting your food delivered. Level up to Clubcard Plus If you're a regular shopper at Tesco, it could be worth signing up to Clubcard Plus. It costs £7.99 a month but gives you 10% off two in-store shops of your choice each month. If those shops are worth £40 or more, you're making the £7.99 back and saving a little extra on top too. Find out more via Dan, from HotUKDeals, added: "You can cancel at any time, so if you're going away or don't anticipate spending much at Tesco in a particular month, cancel your subscription until you know it'll offer value again." Make the most of marketing Opt into Tesco emails where the retailer will send offers every week - it's a quick and easy way to top up your points. Dan said: "It can be annoying getting lots of emails, but they do send some good offers that can help boost your points." You can sign up for marketing emails via Other top tips for boosting points Clubcard vouchers expire so don't let any go to waste. They expire two years after the date they were issued. You can check if you've got any vouchers to spend by logging into your account at Click on 'my Clubcard account' and then 'vouchers' to see what you've got. If you do have any vouchers that are due to expire, there is one quick trick you can use to extend their lifespan. You just have to use the voucher to buy something, then whatever is left over will be valid for a further two years. For example, if you have vouchers worth £10, you could spend 50p and get back £9.50 which will be valid for another two years. Beyond this, you can also earn 150 Clubcard points by completing surveys through Shopper Thoughts as well. Find out more via What is Tesco Clubcard? Tesco Clubcard customers earn points when shopping in-store or online. You earn one point for each £1 spent and each point is then worth 1p. Once you've earned 150 points, equivalent to spending £150, you receive a voucher worth £1.50. This voucher can then be used to get money off a shop in your local Tesco store or online, or with Tesco's rewards partners. You can also earn points by making purchases through a range of Tesco's partners including Xauxhall, Evri and OVO Energy. For example, shoppers buying a new Vauxhall car can get 50,000 Clubcard points or those spending £1 with Evri get one point. Of course, you can double the value of any points earned by spending them at any one of Tesco's rewards partners. The full list of Tesco's partners is on its website via Any vouchers transferred into Reward Partner codes expire after six months. You can sign up to Tesco Clubcard on the app, which is downloadable via Google Play or the Apple App Store. Alternatively, you can order one via In other Tesco news, the retailer has rolled out "Your Clubcard Prices" - personalised prices based on shoppers' habits. Plus, the supermarket has axed a popular Tesco Pay+ feature from its Clubcard scheme. Do you have a money problem that needs sorting?
