One arrested following Memorial Day stabbing in Binghamton
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A Binghamton man has been arrested and charged with first-degree assault following a stabbing that sent one to the hospital on Memorial Day.
Binghamton Police officers responded to 54 Orton Ave in Binghamton on Monday, May 26, at around 6:15 p.m. for a reported stabbing. Officers found a 22-year-old with stab wounds to his chest and back upon arrival. The 22-year-old was taken to a local hospital by EMS to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect, 26-year-old Jordon Matos, of Binghamton, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with Assault in the first degree and is scheduled to appear in Binghamton City Court.
Police say the incident was not random, as the victim and Matos know one another. The incident remains under investigation.
