Britain's Got Talent comic hopes trolls find 'light in lives'

A Britain's Got Talent comic says internet trolls have not upset him, but he wants people to realise belittling someone on the internet "is sad".Joseph Charm from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, came fifth in the 2025 ITV series after receiving the Golden Buzzer from judge Alesha Dixon and his mum, who had joined the 33-year-old said the buzzer, which automatically sends an act to the semi-finals, brought a lot of praise and a lot of the final, Mr Charm said he "wasn't bothered" by the online abuse and hoped the negative commenters could "find light in their lives". 'Spread joy' Mr Charm quit his job to pursue comedy in 2024 and said being on the show had been "incredible".He did not win the £250,000 prize but said the experience trumped everything especially for his mum who was able to meet Simon Cowell."Having that moment was worth its weight in gold," he said. "£250,000 would be fantastic but just getting to the final and to have Milton Keynes behind me is just fantastic."He hoped to keep the momentum up and "spread joy in a number of different ways," following the show. Mr Charm joked to the live audience on Saturday about some of the negative comments he had received."They said 'Joseph you're not even funny'. I said 'that is ok, comedy is subjective'. "Then they said 'you only got it [the buzzer] because you're black'."Then they said 'Joseph go back to where you came from..'. but I don't want to go back to Lewisham."Mr Charm told the BBC that some people felt "vindicated" after the show."I wasn't bothered by any of them. They are so fragile, fickle, weak and sad and I just hope they can find light in their lives so they can no longer be that way," he said."That's my genuine hope and if it's not through me hopefully it can be through the next comic or someone else can make them realise that it's sad trying to belittle someone on the internet." Britain's Got Talent suffers HUGE on air blunder as Bruno Tonioli swears live during final - as some fans ask for him to be 'sacked'

Britain's Got Talent suffered a huge on air blunder during Saturday's final after Bruno Tonioli swore live. Host Declan Donnelly was forced to apologise to ITV viewers after the Italian choreographer uttered the bad language before the 9pm watershed. The ex-Strictly star was giving feedback after comedian Joseph Charm's performance when he said: 'We were just p***ing…' before quickly correcting himself and apologising. The incident forced Dec to issue an on-air apology, as he told viewers: 'Apologies if you were offended by Bruno's slip of the tongue there.' The remark was made during a live broadcast, which falls under strict rules preventing swearing before the 9pm watershed. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz letter to stay in the loop. Bruno who joined the ITV talent show two years ago later clarified that he and the other judges had simply found the act very funny. Some fans took to X to respond to Bruno's blue language, with some vowing he should be 'sacked' whilst others felt it was the 'best part' of the whole night. They penned: '#BritainsGotTalent # BGT I'm not offended by Bruno saying p*****g, I am irritated by him constantly shouting and jumping his feet all the time!'; 'Bruno nearly saying p*****g themselves laughing at what we don't know #BGT'; 'Bruno dropped a minor swear klaxon! #bgt'; 'A lovely swear from Bruno. #BGTFinal #BGT #BritainsGotTalent'; 'I'm sorry but Bruno swearing on Britains Got Talent has got me in stitches even 15 minutes after, so funny so funny #BGT'; 'Sack Bruno he just said p*ssing on live daytime television!! #bgt'; 'Bruno saying p*****g has probably been the best part of this final so far.' It's not the first time that Britian's Got Talent has been in hot water over the judges bad language. Joseph left the live audience and judges in stitches with his jokes about the extortionate costs of childcare in the UK - questioning whether his kids were being fed caviar Some fans took to X to respond to Bruno's blue language, with some vowing he should be 'sacked' whilst others felt it was the 'best part' of the whole night Two years ago viewers were left amused when Bruno swore live on TV during the shows second semi-final show. Bruno appeared very unimpressed as he was dragged up on stage during Andrew Stanton's 'disgusting' stunt act and was heard dropping the expletive live on TV after walking on stage. He was heard saying to music mogul Simon: 'Oh f**king hell Simon, not again.' In 2019, Amanda Holden caused nearly 200 complaints with governing media watchdog, Ofcom when she dropped the F-bomb during a terrifying live act. Amanda was left trembling with fear when the spooky act, saw her led into a basement to be terrified by women dressed as ghosts. At the time, the former Kiss Me Kate actress issued an apology saying: 'I really want to apologise for saying a terrible word. I know my kids are watching so I apologise for that. I can honestly say I feel terrified.' But that's not all. A year before, in 2018, a stage invader stormed onto the judging panel and slammed three of the red buzzers, leaving the judges very shaken. When the intruder interrupted their critique of Magus Utopia's act, as Amanda screamed in fright, Simon swore. Managing to slam Amanda, Alesha and Simon's buzzers, the camera quickly panned out as Simon swore and security dealt with the stage invasion.

BGT's most shocking final moments ever from gruesome mid-air disaster to dog owner pelted with DEATH threats after win

Loading the Elevenlabs Text to Speech AudioNative Player... AFTER a mammoth five weeks of semi-finals, the Britain's Got Talent final is finally here. Tonight's supersized show - which runs for two hours and 45 minutes - will see the finalists battling it out for a chance to perform at The Royal Variety Show and a £250,000 cash prize. 13 13 Comedian Joseph Charm and singers Jasmine Rice and Stacey Leadbetter are up against nine-year-old dancer Benita Chetry, Other acts include, Ping Pong Pang, who combine table tennis skills with dance, and the Hear Our Voice choir, which is made up of 39 people who have been impacted by the Post Office scandal. As well as creating stars like Susan Boyle and Diversity, the show's final has had its own fair share of controversies over the years. We take a look back at all of the biggest controversies that plagued the show's finale and proved you really do have to go big or go home. Egg throwing Singing duo Richard and Adam were in the middle of their moving rendition of The Impossible Dream during the series seven final, when one of their supporting musicians rushed to the front of the stage to pelt Simon Cowell with eggs. Natalie Holt was escorted from the stage by security, and later admitted she had planned to launch her protest against the music mogul after they finished their performance. She apologised profusely for spoiling their big moment but she had no such remorse for Simon, telling the Guardian that she had pelted him because he has too much power and influence in the entertainment industry. She also revealed she had been asked to mime during the performance which made it easy for her to put down her violin to pull the organic eggs from her tights. But she thanked Simon for not pressing charges. She added: 'As an act of goodwill I would also be happy to offer to pay for his dry cleaning bill or buy him a new shirt, maybe with a few more buttons at the top.' Doggy double Britain's Got Talent branded a 'fix' by fuming viewers after 'wrong act' gets through to finals 13 13 Outraged viewers felt cheated when it transpired that they had been misled by winner of series nine, Jules O'Dwyer, about her dancing dog Matisse. The winning performance included a tightrope walk but it was revealed the next day that a different dog stepped in for that part of the act. Jules defended her decision to employ a stand in, stating that the real Matisse was afraid of heights. Ofcom received hundreds of complaints over the 2015 incident, with people even sending death threats to the pair. It was ruled that ITV had misled the public - though Jules was not stripped of her £250,00 prize money. Shock injury 13 13 Performance troupe Ssaulabi were midway through their stunt-filled routine when two of its members collided mid-air, with horrific consequences. One teammate fell to the stage and landed awkwardly on his foot, before trying to stand up and collapsing. Judge Alesha Dixon recoiled in horror as the performer was forced to crawl off the stage in agony. It was later revealed he had broken his foot. A BGT statement issued the following morning read: "During last night's live final, a member of Ssaulabi Performance Troupe was injured. "He was quickly seen by our onsite medical team before going to hospital for further treatment. All at BGT wish him a speedy recovery.'" Fix claims 13 13 When comedian Kojo Anim was voted through to the final in 2020, judge Alesha Dixon was accused of voting for him because they are good friends. Alesha reportedly knew Kojo through her husband, dancer Azuka Ononye, and she toldher fellow judges and the audience: 'I have known Kojo for many, many years.' The Mis-teeq singer was also accused of favouritism when she sent contestant Lifford Shillingford through to the final with her golden buzzer. It later emerged Alesha already knew Lifford from back in the day when he'd supported Mis-teeq on tour. Alesha hit back though and said: "He's not a friend. That sounds cold, but I don't have his phone number. "I haven't seen him in years. When I say I know him, I know his music. I remember him from back in the day. There were shows that Mis-Teeq were doing that he was too. There was just a mutual respect and understanding between us." Anonymous blog 13 13 Back in 2011, an anonymous blogger accused child star Ronan Parke of having connections to show boss Simon Cowell before appearing for the show. Ronan was the runner-up after losing out to Scottish singer Jai McDowall in the final. The blogger claimed to be an anonymous Sony Music source who said that no act had won the show who hadn't been an "invited or preferred" contestant. And they claimed that Simon had known Ronan for two years and that the youngster had signed a deal with his record label. After being questioned by police, the blogger apologised and admitted having no connection to Cowell, Syco or Ronan. A spokeswoman for Sony Music said at the time: "A man has now admitted responsibility for the wholly untrue blogs relating to Ronan Parke and the false allegations against Britain's Got Talent, Sony Music and Syco. He has admitted he has absolutely no connection with Ronan Parke, Sony Music, Syco, or Britain's Got Talent.' Nepo baby claims 13 13 In 2017, eight-year-old Issy Simpson won her place in the final after stunning the audience and judges by reading Simon Cowell's mind. But her joy at making it to the final was tarnished after it was revealed that her grandad was well known in the magic world and was the main magic man behind the scenes for BGT. BGT bosses defended Issy and said she had won her spot fair and square saying: 'Russ Stevens (Issy's grandad) is a magic expert, who was used as a freelance magic consultant for two shows only in 2014. He has not been contracted since. 'Issy went through the same process as any other act and was judged on her performance on the day.'

The Lewisham-born comedian and BGT finalist who got Alesha's golden buzzer

A Lewisham-born comedian has made it to the final of Britain's Got Talent after leaving the judges and the audience in stitches with his performance last weekend. Joseph Charm returned to the BGT stage on Sunday (May 18) in front of judges Bruno Tonioli, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, and Simon Cowell for the live semi-finals. The 32-year-old won the hearts of the audience and judges at his audition with his relatable rant about being a parent. Joseph returned to the stage after running past the audience and greeting the theatre. He told the audience: 'This is one of the biggest nights of my life. 'We are going to break records tonight.' He went on to say he'd waited a 'LONGGG time for this moment', which became a recurring joke for the rest of the performance. In his audition, he explained how he quit his job to pursue his dream as a comedian. He joked: 'In a short space of time, I've grown a huge following, and an even bigger overdraft. 'I didn't sign up for that. 'But then, everybody, I did the greatest thing anyone could do as a Brit: I did Britain's Got Talent.' He admitted that being on Britain's Got Talent has made him more famous and recognisable, though people assume he's Idris Elba. He added: 'The only thing worse than being famous is being famous and broke. 'I'm trying to be like these guys [the judges] and be rich and famous. 'But it has been incredible. 'I've had cousins from overseas trying to claim me.' He said cousins from Sierra Leone have gotten in contact with him, telling him that they hadn't spoken to him for 'a LONGGG time', and that they've asked him for money now that he's 'rich and famous'. He joked that the correct term was that he was 'broke and famous' and if they were waiting for him to send them money, they would be waiting 'a LONGGG time'. Joseph went on to talk about the struggles of being unemployed during the cost-of-living crisis and humorously pointed out that weekly shopping now costs £200 after three items. He didn't know where the family holiday would be this year and said that he told his kids that if he won Britain's Got Talent, they'd be going to Jamaica, but if he lost, they'd be going to Jamaica Road in Bermondsey. Before wrapping up his performance, he shared an anecdote about after his audition, where he called his mother to inform her that he'd gotten through to the semi-finals. His mum's first question was apparently about if he had met and spoken to Simon Cowell, and if the iconic judge had asked about her. But he supposedly responded with a running gag from the performance: if his mum was waiting for a call from Simon Cowell, she'd be waiting 'a LONGGG time'. The judges and the audience were on their feet in applause as Simon Cowell welcomed Joseph's mum on the judging panel and embraced her. Alesha Dixon, the judge with the power to send a contestant straight to the final with the Golden Buzzer, took Mrs Charm's hand and pressed it down on the buzzer with her own. Joseph broke into tears of joy as he fell to his knees. As his performance time came to an end, he told the audience, judges, and viewers at home: 'It has been exactly a year today since I left my job to pursue this dream, so here I am. 'Thank you, God. Thank you, everyone.' Joseph will return to ITV screens on May 31 for the BGT Live Final.
