Teen killed in ‘calculated, targeted' shooting in South Euclid

[See violent crime statistics in the player above.] SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio (WJW) — An 18-year-old was shot and killed Thursday, July 17, in what appeared to be a 'calculated, targeted murder,' said Police Chief Joseph Mays. Police responded just after 8:30 p.m. to a report of shots fired in the 4100 block of Verona Road. Ex-North Ridgeville City Schools teacher sentenced to jail in stalking case involving Westlake City Schools teacher Officers arrived to find an 18-year-old suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition and later died, according to the release. Witnesses told police a red or maroon Nissan Murano stopped on the street near the man. A male suspect got out of the SUV and opened fire, then fled in the SUV. Officers are still searching for the suspect and the vehicle, according to the release. Police have not identified the victim, 'so that the family has time to mourn privately,' Mays wrote.
