1199SEIU, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center reach 3-year tentative agreement
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East reached a three-year tentative agreement with Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and Health Home Services after five months of contract talks, the union announced Tuesday.
The union said the tentative agreement covers 750 hospital and homecare workers. The previous agreement expired on May 31, but workers agreed to two extensions through July 31.
'Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, as the only full-service health system serving all of Niagara County, and only independent hospital in all eight counties of WNY, stands proud to reach a fair and equitable tentative agreement with 1199SEIU,' said Joseph Ruffolo, the center's CEO. 'Despite the challenging economic outlook that we, and all hospitals across the country will face due to the significant federal reductions in Medicaid and Medicare, we have the confidence in our team of healthcare workers that their unwavering support for Memorials mission to serve will remain intact.'
A ratification vote is scheduled for Friday. The bargaining committee unanimously recommended the contract, the union said.
