Lions 0-3 Boro - the most 'Millwall' of results
After an opening week full of optimism and high hopes, Saturday's home loss to Middlesbrough was perhaps the most 'Millwall' of of the old cartoon gag, whereby Tom would step on a garden rake and slap himself in the face, much to Jerry's borrow a cliche: at this level of the game, if you don't take your goalscoring chances, then you'll be excellent opportunities for Millwall went begging. First, Camiel Neghli's header - with a strong shout for a penalty waved away by the Casper De Norre's volley was cleared from the line. All before a terrific second-half low header for former Teesider Josh Coburn somehow hit the crossbar, post and attending defender, before running away to your luck?If any of those chances had gone in, then maybe the outcome might have been it was though, excellent finishing - mixed with some lax defending - put Middlesbrough ahead on 49 minutes, before the coup de grace was delivered in similar style in the 87th third goal late in stoppage time was in reality the cherry placed on top of Boro's cake - nice to have, but the game was long over by very Millwall...

Zak Sturge and Josh Coburn's loans from Chelsea and Middlesbrough, respectively, have been made permanent, with Millwall spending a club-record fee on 22-year-old striker international Massimo Luongo and goalkeepers Max Crocombe and Steven Benda have also joined, while midfielders George Saville and George Honeyman have moved on to Luton and Blackpool respectively. Josh Coburn signs!
[Getty Images] Another transfer window, another Millwall club record deal. The news of Josh Coburn's move to The Den for a reported £5m deal, including various performance related add-ons, was met with near universal approval around the Millwall scene - which is no mean achievement by the Lions' recruiting team. Advertisement Josh made 21 appearances on loan from Middlesbrough last term and his physical presence alongside our Serbian prospect Mihailo Ivanovic, generated 18 goals between them in a front two pairing that made my old eyes go all misty with nostalgia. Clearly head coach Alex Neil sees strong development potential in Coburn, playing alongside Iva in a front two system. Already the internet memes comparing them to the classic 1980's Teddy Sheringham and Tony Cascarino strike force are doing the rounds. All we need now is a new Terry Hurlock-style midfielder to really get the Bermondsey juices flowing... Exciting times at The Den, then. As ever, Lions fans will be forever grateful for the continuing backing of the Berylson family. Find more from Nick Hart on Achtung! Millwall.
