Tampa Bay Buccaneers Biggest Question Mark Next Season Revealed
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Biggest Question Mark Next Season Revealed originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers boasted one of the best offenses last season and return all 11 starters in 2025. Advertisement The team also has a new and unproven offensive coordinator in Josh Grizzard, who replaces Liam Coen, who took the head coaching job in Jacksonville earlier this offseason. While the defense struggled mightily last season, general manager Jason Licht made some wholesale changes in free agency and the draft, and head coach and defensive coordinator Todd Bowles says he's making adjustments to his scheme to improve the unit for the upcoming season. But it's the offense and more specifically, the wideout room, that's the biggest question mark for 2025 as Pro Football Focus noted. "After making the wild-card round, the Buccaneers made sure to retain important free agents and make compelling upgrades at multiple positions. And the team's first-round pick creates a fascinating wide receiver room. Tampa Bay brought back star Chris Godwin (85.7 PFF receiving grade) on a three-year, $66 million deal, but then also drafted Emeka Egbuka (82.4 PFF receiving grade) at 19th overall. On top of that, Mike Evans (90.2 PFF receiving grade) remains one of the league's best receivers, and former third-round pick Jalen McMillan came onto the scene with a 75.8 PFF receiving grade in the final five games of the year. Advertisement "Perhaps Godwin may not be ready for the start of 2025 following ankle surgery, but if he's ready to go, then Tampa Bay won't have an easy call for whom to put next to him and Evans." It's a good problem to have. The team has to figure out who its third-best wideout is among a room with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan and Emeka Egbuka, among others. If the defense improves as we all think it will and the offense can be what it was last season, then the Bucs could be looking at a sixth straight postseason appearance and fifth consecutive NFC South title. Bucs are not resting on their past success as they look ahead
Bucs are not resting on their past success as they look ahead The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the second-longest winning streak of division titles in the NFL (4) behind only the Kansas City Chiefs (9). The offense led the way in 2024, and they could very easily do it again in 2025, and why shouldn't they? They have promoted their coordinators to head coaching jobs in back-to-back years, and now they have promoted someone internally, Josh Grizzard, who could be next in line. If you ask Grizzard though, the team is not going to be resting on their past success. When he spoke to the media this week, he assured everyone that this team, especially the offense, is not looking back on past achievements. "You can see the hunger in guys to be able to push on into the playoffs and you can tell through the meeting rooms and the questions they are asking and the stuff we are getting done on the field – I would not want to compare to last year - It feels we are even a step further. . .They have been hungry. Nobody is resting on the statistical success that we had last year, because ultimately team-wise and in the playoffs is far from what we are trying to do." With so many players coming off career years, it is easy to project them having a setback in 2025. But when you look at it, several players have chips on their shoulders. Mike Evans wants to break a record; he is tied with Jerry Rice for most consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons. Chris Godwin is coming off a major injury. Jalen McMillan needs to prove that Emeka Egbuka will not take his job. Oh, and Baker Mayfield still wants to win a Lombardi Trophy. This is a hungry Bucs offense we will be watching in 2025.

Buccaneers BREAKING As 2025 NFL Schedule Becomes Official
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off their fourth consecutive NFC South title, but have a lot of room to improve - with expectations to match. That is because they are on the precipice of history. With another division championship this season, Tampa Bay would become the first team in NFC South history to win five consecutive division titles. Advertisement The Bucs are coming off a solid 10-7 campaign last season, but will have to turn to yet another offensive coordinator after Liam Coen was hired as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Josh Grizzard has been promoted to the position in Tampa as the Buccaneers fourth OC in the last four years. The 2025 season will mark the Buccaneers' 50th as a franchise. Here is how it will play out. Official 2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Schedule Week 1: @ Atlanta Falcons Week 2: @ Houston Texans (Monday Night Football) Week 3: vs. New York Jets Week 4: vs. Philadelphia Eagles Week 5: @ Seattle Seahawks Week 6: vs. San Francisco 49ers Advertisement Week 7: @ Detroit Lions - (Monday Night Football) Week 8: BYE WEEK Week 9: @ New Orleans Saints Week 10: vs. New England Patriots Week 11: @ Buffalo Bills Week 12: @ Los Angeles Rams (Sunday Night Football) Week 13: vs. Arizona Cardinals Week 14: vs. New Orleans Saints Week 15: vs. Atlanta Falcons (Thursday Night Football) Week 16: @ Carolina Panthers Week 17: @ Miami Dolphins Week 18: vs. Carolina Panthers Across eight home games and nine road games, the Buccaneers will face the 14th easiest (or 19th toughest) schedule, nestled nicely near the middle of the pack. These rankings are based on the combined win percentage from last season of Tampa's 2025 opponents (.481). Advertisement Outside of their matchups against arguably the worst division in football, the Bucs will face a series of tough tests this season, notably with battles agains the Texans, Bills, and reigning Super Bowl champion Eagles. The offense will be powered through the air with quarterback Baker Mayfield equipped with a loaded arsenal of receivers in Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and rookie first-rounder Emeka Egbuka. The defense also saw some reinforcements added through free agency and the NFL Draft. Notable acquisitions here include outside linebacker Haason Reddick and cornerback Kindle Vildor. On their quest for a historic fifth straight NFC South crown, Tampa will face the toughest total schedule in the division, but that shouldn't stop them from getting production from their many weapons. Bucs bring a new offensive quality control coach to Josh Grizzard's new staff
Bucs bring a new offensive quality control coach to Josh Grizzard's new staff The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have hired a new offensive quality control coach, Blaine Stewart, who previously coached wide receivers at the University of West Virginia. Stewart had spent three years with the Mountaineers as both a tight end coach and an inside receivers coach, in which one of his players was a two-time All-Big 12 Conference award winner. Stewart previously worked in the NFL under Mike Tomlin as a coaching assistant for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was also a wide receiver at James Madison from 2013 to 2015 and then at the University of Charleston from 2016 to 2017. Stuart brings a lengthy résumé of general offensive knowledge and will likely help with the practice squad and review film to enhance the offense's overall performance. With Josh Grizzard being a first-time offensive coordinator, having someone on the staff who has worked under such a prolific coach, and Mike Tomlin, as well as multiple positions on offense, will only make the offense more dangerouss as they have wrinkles with their newest additions.

Where do the Bucs rank in ESPN's way-too-early 2025 power rankings?
Power rankings are always a topic for discussion, and hot off the Super Bowl coming to a close, we are already looking ahead to next season. ESPN published some way-too-early power rankings, and the Bucs are already in the thick of them as we turn the page to next year. Jenna Laine of ESPN discussed within the rankings what the team needs to focus on this offseason to improve. She said it all boils down to improving the defense as this team takes the next step. 'With the offensive coordinator situation solidified (Josh Grizzard), the Bucs really need to shore up their defense. They've had only three double-digit sack edge rushers since 2005 and none since 2021. They also had only seven interceptions in 2024 after almost double that in 2024 (13). They gave up an average of 22.6 points in 2024. . .' The defense is expected to be addressed heavily in the NFL draft as free agency may be tough to do so. The team is epxetced to only have $11 million in cap space and they have some holes to address. Bringing back Lavonte David is one major domino, but they need a handful more to contend.
