Former Saints goalkeeper joins Eastleigh after release this summer
GOALKEEPER Josh McNamara has joined National League side Eastleigh following his release by Saints this summer. McNamara will link up with Saints goalkeeping legend Kelvin Davis at the Silverlake Stadium, having agreed terms with the Spitfires. The 21 year old former Manchester City academy prospect spent two seasons in Southampton's under-21s, and helped them reach the Premier League 2 play-off final. They suffered a 2-0 defeat against his former side in the final, which turned out to be McNamara's final appearance for Saints. Upon the arrival of the shot-stopper, manager Davis said: 'We've had a number of trialists in this position and we're looking for character first and someone that's hungry to improve. McNamara is no stranger to National League football, having spent time on loan at St Albans in the National League South during the 2023/24 season. He will compete for the number one spot with former Newport County and Antigua and Barbuda international Nick Townsend.
