Mark Wright plugs axed family show which was scrapped after one season - despite the series including the most iconic moment on reality TV
Mark Wright shared a video from his axed family TV show which was scrapped after one series despite including a moment of television gold. The Wrights were dealt a blow that their BBC travel show will not be returning for a second series last year, but the one series is still available to watch on iPlayer. A clip from the show posted by Mark showed himself, his dad Mark Snr and his brother Josh bickering over directions in the car. Despite being the driver of the vehicle, Mark Snr hilariously argued that it should have been Josh keeping an eye on the sat nav and telling him where to go. A Wright Family Holiday aired summer 2023 and followed the TOWIE star, his footballer brother Josh and dad Mark Snr as they travelled from Scotland to Cornwall. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Yet despite healthy viewing figures and a good response from audiences, the programme was not recommissioned. While the Wright family may be disappointed with the outcome they can rejoice in knowing they have created one of the most iconic moments on reality TV. The family went viral with a clip of Mark Snr, 66, passing out during a 130ft bungee jump while his oblivious sons called out to him from the viewing platform. As Mark dangled in the air like a swinging pendulum, Mark, 37, was seen repeatedly shouting 'how do ya feel?' to his unresponsive father, seemingly unfazed by the lack of response. In a bid to spend some quality time together, Mark, his brother Josh, 34, and their dad had set out on a road trip across Britain which they peppered with a few white-knuckle activities. Upon discovering that they would be flinging themselves off a bridge, Mark Sr explained: 'Josh has chosen this activity to get one over on Mark, but he don't realise that I am in the middle of it all. I could throttle him at the moment, I really could!' He was then heard asking the instructor if it was 'dangerous', before adding: 'Mark is in bits, it won't surprise me if he don't do it... or I don't do it. But when I get up there, if I don't fancy it, I just won't do it.' Yet determined to set an example for his boys, Mark Snr confidently threw himself off the platform and into the abyss... with shocking consequences. Last year the family went viral with a clip of Mark Snr, 66, passing out during a 130ft bungee jump while his oblivious sons called out to him from the viewing platform In a bid to spend some quality time together, Mark, his brother Josh, 34, and their dad had set out on a road trip across Britain which they peppered with a few white-knuckle activities The intense fall caused Mark Snr's blood pressure to fall and heart rate to decrease, causing him to instantly pass out. While he flopped around upside down in his harness, Mark Jnr and Josh were none the wiser as they called out to him. 'Yes dad! Go on dad! How do you feel? Dad how do you feel?' Mark questioned, but with met by silence from his father. 'Dad, how do ya feel?' Josh mirrored. While the brothers seemed oblivious to the potential medical emergency unfolding 130 feet below them, the instructor sprang into action as he was heard on the radio asking: 'Is Mark okay? He's stopped moving.' Thankfully, Mark Snr soon regained consciousness and as if nothing had happened at all he triumphantly threw his fist into the air as he was hoisted back up onto the platform. Unfazed by his experience, he told his sons, 'That was amazing but terrifying, that was terrifying!' Still not having twigged that his father had lost consciousness, Josh said: 'You weren't answering us, were you shouting back when we asked if you were ok?' Mark Snr then cleared up the matter by explaining: 'I think I blacked out. 'All I can remember is that I went into a swing and that was that. 'Every thing else was a blur!' while Mark Jnr responded: 'You frightened the life out of me not shouting back.' Despite the scenes going viral, the Wright family won't be returning for a second season of their travel show. A TV insider told The Sun that the series was 'always going to be a suck-it-and-see job' however it 'wasn't meant to be'. 'If it went down well with audiences and got healthy viewing figures, the BBC would have been tempted to maybe explore another series,' the insider revealed. 'The Wrights would have been up for it, but it wasn't to be.' The source added though that a consolation for the Essex family is that the BBC is 'still keen to work with them' so another show could be on the cards. A BBC Spokesperson said: 'A Wright Family Holiday was commissioned as a one off and has not been axed.'

After 10 years of searching, man finds rare board game in charity shop for ₹210
Josh Wright, a dedicated bargain hunter with a passion for retro board games, struck gold during a routine visit to a charity shop. After spending ten years scouring car boot sales and second-hand stores, he finally came across a game he had long been searching for, Escape From Atlantis, priced at just £2 (approximately ₹210). Sharing his find on TikTok, Josh expressed his excitement in real-time while browsing the board game section at the St Elizabeth Hospice Retail Centre. Holding up the box, he exclaimed, "No way. I've been looking for this game... £2. Escape From Atlantis — I have to pick that up." Clearly elated, he added, "What a find, it's from the 70s and it's coming home with me. I'm buzzing with that." After making his purchase, Josh revealed how close he had come to paying significantly more online. "I've literally been looking for this game for 10 years. Recently I was very tempted to buy it on eBay — it sells for around £50 to £60 ( ₹5,300 to ₹6,400) on there. But thankfully I stopped myself from buying it. Now at £2 in a charity shop I'm still shocked I found it." The game in question, Escape From Atlantis, was originally released by Parker Brothers in 1982 under the title Survive! Escape From Atlantis in the United States. It was later introduced to the UK market in 1986 by Waddington's. Contrary to Josh's belief that it was a 70s game, the version he found dates back to the mid-80s. Also read: 'She's my idol': Colonel Sofiya Qureshi's brother praises her powerful message on Operation Sindoor According to Board Game Geek, Escape From Atlantis challenges players to rescue their Atlantean Tribesmen as an island made of 37 hex-shaped tiles gradually sinks into the ocean. Players navigate toward safety by swimming, catching rides on dolphins, or using boats, all while avoiding deadly sea creatures like sharks, sea monsters, and octopuses. Josh isn't done yet. He told his followers that he's still hunting for two more games on his 'thrifting bucket list', The Lost Valley of Dinosaurs and Escape From Frankenstein. Social media users quickly chimed in with nostalgic memories and shared excitement. "I loved that game!" wrote one user. Another commented, "I had that game, loved it." A third added, "Major find in the Atlantis." While one person even said, "I have that Frankenstein game. Great game." A quick look at eBay listings confirms that Josh's excitement was justified, recent sales of Escape From Atlantis have reached nearly £70 ( ₹7,500), making his £2 score not just sentimental but a serious steal. Man visits charity shops for 10 years and finally finds item he was looking for
Josh Wright spent a decade looking in charity shops and at car boot sales for a particular item from the 1980s, and he's finally found it at branch of St Elizabeth Hospice Retail Centre A bargain hunter who spent a decade searching charity shops and car boot sales for one particular item has expressed his delight after finally chancing upon it. Josh Wright admitted he couldn't believe his luck after spotting it on sale at a much lower price than he expected. "I've just found it - £2 for this game," he began in a TikTok video, recorded at a branch of St Elizabeth Hospice Retail Centre. Heading to the boardgame and jigsaw section, Josh pulled out a Waddington's game before giving it the once over. "No way," he said in shock. "I've been looking for this game... £2. Escape From Atlantis - I have to pick that up." He continued: "What a find, it's from the 70s and it's coming home with me. I'm buzzing with that." After handing over his £2, Josh continued to express his excitement: "I've literally been looking for this game for 10 years. "Recently I was very tempted to buy it on eBay - it sells for around £50 to £60 on there. But thankfully I stopped myself from buying it. Now at £2 in a charity shop I'm still shocked I found it." Josh closed by telling his followers he's still on the look-out for two further boardgames on his "thrifting bucket list" - the Lost Valley Of Dinosaurs and Escape From Frankenstein. "I loved that game!" penned one TikTok user. A second concurred: "I had that game, loved it." A third person added: "Major find in the Atlantis." Whilst a fourth said of Josh's wish-list: "I have that Frankenstein game. Great game." Several copies of Escape From Atlantis feature in eBay's recently sold listings, two of which fetched just under £70. Contrary to Josh's dating, the boardgame in this 3D was first released by Waddington's in 1986. It followed an earlier release in the United States in 1982 by Parker Brothers, where it was titled, Survive! Escape From Atlantis. Gaming website Board Game Geek describes the game as: "An island made up of 37 hex-shaped plastic tiles is slowly sinking into the ocean (as the tiles are removed from the board). Each player controls 12 Atlantean Tribesmen that they try and move towards the safety of the surrounding islands before the main island sinks. "Players can either swim, latch onto a dolphin, or use boats to travel but must avoid sea monsters, octopuses, and sharks on their way to safety."

How Coalfield made history at TSSAA girls state basketball tournament with Class 1A quarterfinal win
MURFREESBORO − Coalfield may not have been the most likely choice to make history at the TSSAA girls basketball state tournament. But that didn't stop the Yellow Jackets from accomplishing just that Wednesday in the Class 1A state quarterfinals at Middle Tennessee State University's Murphy Center. Coalfield knocked off defending state runner-up Moore County, 54-41, to advance to the semifinals for the first time in program history. Yellow Jackets coach Josh Wright accomplished the feat in his first year at the helm. Coalfield had only been to state twice (2005, 2010) and lost by double digits in the quarterfinal each time. "We got close a couple of years ago," Wright said. "But for us to make it and get over the hump with our first win is a great, great feeling. I'm so proud of these girls." Coalfield (31-5) will play Van Buren County ― a 68-32 winner over Memphis Middle College ― at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the semifinals. Coalfield wasn't picked by many to upend a veteran Moore County (24-4) squad, especially considering Coalfield entered the game with two freshmen and two sophomores in the starting lineup. But it may have been youth that worked to the Yellow Jackets' advantage. LIVE UPDATES: TSSAA girls basketball state tournament 2025: Shelby Higgins leads Richland to halftime lead "We just play together," said Coalfield sophomore guard Alexis Hammock, who scored 13 points in the win. "Honestly, it doesn't matter how old we are or age or anything. We're a young team but we play like we're old. It's our first year being together, but we play like we've been together forever." Coalfield's small community of less than 3,000 people rallied around the team before heading to Murfreesboro. HOW TO WATCH: How to watch TSSAA girls basketball state tournament "It's just a great place," said Wright, a 1999 Coalfield graduate who was part of the 1998 state championship baseball team. "In about 36 hours we raised enough money to come down here for the whole week, feed the girls and get them down here. It was unbelievable. I don't know how many calls and text messages we got for good luck, even from other communities around our area. It means so much." Mattie Beard led Coalfield with 14 points. Lilly-Claire Lowe added 12 points. The Yellow Jackets led 23-18 at halftime and built the advantage to 44-32 by the end of the third.
