Former Carlisle United striker offered new deal in League One
Former Carlisle United striker Joshua Kayode has been offered a new deal with Rotherham United.
An offer to prolong his stay with the League One club has been tabled at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Kayode, 25, ended the season with a run of first-team appearances following an injury hit first half of the campaign on loan at Shrewsbury Town.
The forward has been on Rotherham's books since his youth team days at the Yorkshire club.
After 50 first-team appearances and a host of loan moves, he could now extend that spell.
The offer to Kayode, who had three loan spells at Carlisle, was revealed in Rotherham's retained and released list following their 13th-placed finish in the third tier.
He is one of five players in negotiations having been offered deals. Four others have been released by the Millers with three more having options activated for another year.
The offer to Kayode has been overseen by boss Matt Hamshaw as well as director of football recruitment Rob Scott, the former Carlisle loan player.
Kayode made 45 appearances and scored 11 goals across his three Brunton Park spells.
The most recent stint, a season-long loan in 2023/24 was ruined by shoulder and calf injuries, limiting him to just four appearances.
