Panchayat Secretary, husband held on graft charge
The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption sleuths on Thursday arrested a panchayat secretary and her husband in Dindigul district on the charges of demanding and receiving bribe.
M.M. Kovilur Panchayat Secretary Jothilakshmi and her husband Ramasamy were arrested by the DVAC sleuths following a trap. It is said that Karthik of Vanniyapatti had approached the panchayat secretary to change the name in property tax receipt. Jothilakshmi demanded a bribe amount of Rs.3,000. Following a complaint from Karthik, a trap was laid.
Jothilakshmi had asked Karthik to hand over the amount to Ramasamy. As Ramasamy was receiving the amount, he was caught red handed by the DVAC sleuths.
