‘The View': Joy Behar Says Trump ‘Would Pardon Jack the Ripper If He Was Alive'
As Donald Trump continues to hand out pardons to convicted criminals, the president noted on Monday that he would consider pardoning disgraced music mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs, depending on the circumstances. And with that admission, 'The View' host Joy Behar is pretty sure that Trump would even pardon a known serial killer. To kick off the days Hot Topics, the ABC hosts dug in on Trump's recent pardons, including that of Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were charged by the first Trump administration with tax and bank fraud, and later convicted. For host Sara Haines, it flew in the face of Trump's rage against a 'two-tiered' justice system. 'The presidential pardon power, as Alyssa knows, is just, it's such a significant, significant power,' host Sunny Hostin added. 'And it should be used with purpose and intentionality.' 'And I'm just sort of disgusted by what I've seen. Of course presidents have been pardoning people for a long time, but he pardoned 1500 people and most of them were January 6 insurrectionists that assaulted police officers,' she continued. At that, Behar chimed in, suggesting who Trump's next pardon might be. 'The guy would pardon Jack the Ripper if he was alive,' she said. She even suggested that someone tell Trump that the famed serial killer is still around, just to see what would happen. But, she also joked that Trump's pardons are rendering lawyers unnecessary. 'All you have to do is get a pardon from him, you don't even have to get a lawyer to defend you anymore,' she said. Discussing the idea of Trump potentially pardoning Diddy, who is currently on trial for sex crimes and racketeering, the hosts were both disgusted and baffled. Farah Griffin was quick to point out that pardons usually come in cases where an argument can be made that the person on trial isn't getting a fair shake. 'There's not really two sides to Diddy,' she said. 'I don't know anyone in public life who's like 'Oh no, he's a good guy and he's getting a bad deal here.'' 'The View' airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC. The post 'The View': Joy Behar Says Trump 'Would Pardon Jack the Ripper If He Was Alive' appeared first on TheWrap.

Behar says Dem effort to reclaim men is a 'waste of money,' suggests 'teaching them to not be such sexists'
Co-hosts of ABC's "The View" on Friday feuded over how the Democratic Party should change its game plan after losing male voters. After their decisive defeat in November, Democrats are still figuring out how they should change their strategy and move forward as a party. The New York Times recently published a report claiming that Democrats are spending $20 million on a study called "Speaking with American Men: A Strategic Plan." The study is a project to "study the syntax, language and content that gains attention and virality in these spaces" of male voters. Co-host Joy Behar scoffed at the idea, deriding it as "20 million bucks just to talk to boys." "You know what I think? I think it's a waste of money. Maybe these guys should spend their money on teaching men to not be such sexists," Behar said, as the audience applauded. Joy Behar bizarrely begs Sarah Silverman to kiss her at the end of an interview on The View
Joy Behar pleaded with Sarah Silverman to kiss her as they wrapped up the comedian's interview on The View. Stand-up comic and actress Sarah, 54, was a guest on the ABC panel show on Thursday where she promoted her latest Netflix special, PostMortem, which debuted on the platform May 20. But as her appearance came to a close, longstanding panelist Joy, 82, was heard asking the School of Rock star to 'kiss me.' 'It's always fun to see you,' the host remarked seconds before, with Sarah immediately retorting, 'I love seeing you!' Whoopi Goldberg then gently hinted that something was about to come, as she asked, 'You want to do the goodbye?' 'Kiss me,' Joy quietly insisted to Sarah which then prompted her to lean in for a smooch. The live studio audience erupted into applause after the bizarre moment and Sarah smacked her lips together. 'We'll all do it,' she added. Sarah had been in the studio to chat about her recently released stand-up special which she wrote after the death of her father and stepmother, who died just nine days apart from each other in 2023. Speaking to the panel, she said: 'I recorded a special and before this one, the one before that was coming out as my dad and my stepmom were dying, and so when you're finished with a special, you're at zero again with material. 'I had no material so when I went back to stand-up, that's what my life was, you know, so I literally went from, cleaning up their apartment with my sisters all day to the club and then that's what I talked about. 'It was a good jumping off point because I spoke at my dad's funeral. 'We all wore his clothes. T-shirts and shorts and there were stains on everything. 'And, you know, he was so funny that my eulogy was funny. 'I had so many funny stories about him so that's where I kind of started from when I started over.' Filmed at the Beacon Theater in New York, PostMortem, according to the official synopsis, follows Sarah as she 'hilariously navigates the absurdities of death with her signature wit, from unexpectedly finding the deal of a lifetime while planning their funerals to cherishing the bittersweet experience of hearing her mother's last words.' Earlier this month, Sarah shared a shocking revelation her late father Donald told her about how her baby brother, Jeffrey, died. Sarah had always been told that her three-month-old brother, who died before she was born, had 'suffocated' after he slipped through a space between the mattress and the bottom rail of his crib. 'The story was that something happened with the crib, and Jeffrey's little body slid and he got suffocated,' she recalled to Rolling Stone. 'But if you look back, there was never a lawsuit with the crib company or anything,' She claims that prior to his death in 2023, Donald told her that he believed the infant was killed by her 'violent' grandfather — Donald's dad — after he 'shook him in a rage.'

Joy Behar Makes Rare Revelation About Her 1st Marriage on ‘The View': ‘I Was a Virgin'
Joy Behar's latest revelation about her first marriage certainly left everyone talking. The TV host shared an anecdote about her relationship with ex Joseph Behar during a recent episode of The View. 'I got married the first time so young that I was a size 10 and a virgin,' Joy, 82, told her cohosts during the episode while they were chatting about weight loss drugs. In particular, they discussed people who are getting married and opting to go on weight loss medications before their big day to lose weight. Joy was pointing out that weight loss drugs weren't around back when she walked down the aisle for the first time, per TV Insider. Her costars were audibly shocked by the marriage confession, but the ABC personality is known for making bold statements on the program and has always done so throughout her many seasons as a cohost. Joy was married to her first husband, Joe, from 1965 to 1981. They welcomed their daughter, Eve Behar, in 1970. The comedian went on to marry her second husband, Steve Janowitz, in 2011 after 29 years of dating. After Joy made the remark during the episode, the conversation carried on with the other cohosts making admissions about weight gain and weight loss. Sara Haines talked about an experience she had at a dress fitting for a wedding that she was a bridesmaid in. 'I went and I said, 'I'll be losing weight, so let's just make it a little smaller,'' she remembered the fitting. 'I gained five to 10 pounds, and two days before, [the seamstress] was like, 'We're going to have to find [something else].' I looked like when you wrap a gift and run out of space!' 'I gain five pounds overnight,' costar Ana Navarro chimed in about her own weight loss experience. 'A good night of drinking, I'm five pounds heavier the morning after.' Joy rarely shares tidbits about her marriage, however, she did make some rare admissions about her relationship with Steve during a May 2024 episode of The View's 'Behind the Table' podcast. The Baby Boom actress revealed what she and her husband fight about the most. 'First of all, it's always about the car,' Joy shared. 'He has autoimmune deficiencies, and so whenever he's behind the wheel or in the back seat, god forbid, we have a driver. He's a back seat driver, a front seat driver.' 'Why am I not a great driver? Because I've been with him for 40 years, and he completely has made me into a nervous driver because he's always criticizing how I drive,' she continued. 'I went into one farmstand, and I have to suffer for the rest of my life.' She also reflected on a vacation to Italy that they went on when The View went on hiatus last year for spring break. 'And also, we were in Italy together for 10 days, just the two of us,' the New York native remarked. 'It's too much closeness. Come on, day and night. And then we come back, and we're together on the weekend, day and night.'
