Get a calming respite at this dreamy gender-neutral thermal bathhouse at Dempsey Hill
The ritual of bathing has long been known for its restorative benefits, but shy peeps might baulk at baring it all in an onsen – and not everyone has the luxury of owning a bathtub. But you don't have to wait till your next staycation for a relaxing hot soak, as Nowhere Baths is here to change the game.
Set atop the scenic Dempsey Hill, Nowhere Baths is a modern communal bathhouse with heated pools. Unlike the Japanese-style Yunomori Onsen and Joya Onsen Café, this facility is mixed-gender, meaning that swimwear stays on at all times. Couples can finally make this a date activity, and there's no need to feel weird about seeing your pals in the buff. Moreover, the non-nude nature of the space makes it inclusive for gender non-conforming folk who typically get barred from traditional onsens.
The two hot pools – an epsom salt bath and cloud bath with nanobubbles – are at toasty temperatures of 40°C. There's also a sauna, steam room, and invigorating cold plunge.
Once done, relax in the lounge where you can pore over a book while sipping on a cup of hot tea.
A two-hour pass inclusive of towels and shower facilities costs $55. Alternatively, get a $500 credit pack with $50 bonus credits – that works out to $50 per session for 10 sessions.
TIME OUT TIP Mondays are for women only, while quieter 'hush hours' are on Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm.
Nowhere Baths is located at 14A Dempsey Road and opens daily from 10am to 9pm. Find out more and make your booking here. While you're in the area, check out Air CCCC for breakfast on a lawn or roam the hill on a self-guided heritage audio tour.
