EyeDura's Sustained-Release Eye Drop Technology Wins Double Industry Honors
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--EyeDura Therapeutics Inc. ( a developer of preservative-free sustained release ophthalmic therapies, announced that it received top recognition at two major industry forums among a field of innovative ophthalmic startup companies. EyeDura won The Winning Pitch challenge at SightLine during the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) conference and earned both the Judge's Choice and People's Choice awards at the Octane Ophthalmology Technology Forum. EyeDura's Topical Sustained Release technology is designed to address two significant challenges in ophthalmic care, which are suboptimal patient compliance and high treatment cost. Conventional eye drop treatments often require multiple daily doses, contributing to compliance rates as low as 60 percent and increasing healthcare expenses. The EyeDura platform utilizes a lipid-based, high-viscosity formulation that integrates into the tear film's lipid layer. During blinking, the aqueous layer is selectively removed while the lipid layer and medication remain, creating a stable depot that delivers therapeutic levels for seven days or longer from a single drop. "These awards reflect the strength of our platform technology and the progress of our development efforts," said Srini Venkatesh, CEO of EyeDura. "The endorsement from both expert judges and industry peers reinforces that we're addressing pressing challenges in ophthalmic drug delivery, especially as we advance our lead program, EYED-002 for neurotrophic keratitis, toward IND submission in Q3 2026." Neurotrophic keratitis is a rare but serious ocular disease affecting approximately 71,000 diagnosed patients in the U.S. Current treatments are limited in availability and difficult to administer, creating significant patient burden. In a recent preliminary study, EyeDura demonstrated complete healing of epithelial defects in all 10 patients enrolled in the study using insulin delivered via the platform — requiring only two drops per week over a four-week period. "Our experienced team has developed a platform that represents a true breakthrough in ocular drug delivery," said William Link, chairman of EyeDura's Board of Directors. "This technology doesn't just improve dosing convenience. It has the potential to reduce the healthcare burden by improving patient compliance and enabling better therapeutic outcomes. Our guiding philosophy is that patients shouldn't have to suffer, and advanced therapeutics should integrate seamlessly into their lives." In addition to neurotrophic keratitis, EyeDura's platform has shown promise across other anterior and posterior ophthalmic applications. The company has demonstrated proof-of-concept for dry eye disease and has successfully delivered insulin and axitinib to treat posterior eye tissues, pointing to future applications for neuroprotection and age-related macular degeneration. EyeDura is pursuing strategic collaborations with ophthalmic pharmaceutical partners interested in leveraging the platform for pipeline products and life cycle management. The company is also preparing for a $25 million Series A fundraise in 2026 to support advancement of its lead neurotrophic keratitis program. About EyeDura EyeDura Therapeutics Inc. ( is a seed-funded ophthalmic pharmaceutical company developing preservative-free topical sustained-release eye drops that target both anterior and posterior segment diseases. Cofounded by Dr. John Vukich and Dr. Kevin Waltz, the company developed its Topical Sustained Release technology to deliver therapeutic levels of active pharmaceutical ingredients for seven days or longer from a single dose. The platform is compatible with most active pharmaceutical ingredients currently used in ophthalmic products, including both small molecules and biologics. EyeDura's lead program, EYED-002, is developing insulin for neurotrophic keratitis, with IND submission planned for Q3 2026. The technology is protected by a global patent portfolio through 2044, with coverage across the U.S., Europe, China, Japan, and other key markets.

Trust & Will's ‘Make It Count' Campaign Wins Creative Awards
Digital estate planning leader Trust & Will earns national recognition for a TV campaign reshaping estate planning conversations. MINNEAPOLIS, May 02, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Trust & Will, the industry leader in digital estate planning, has earned multiple awards recognizing excellence in media strategy and creative execution for its "Make it Count" campaign, developed in partnership with TV agency Marketing Architects. The campaign won first place in the TV or Interactive/Enhanced TV category at the MediaPost Planning & Buying Awards. It also received Gold in the Television category at the FCS Portfolio Awards, along with the night's highest honor, Judge's Choice. Launched in March 2024, "Make it Count" brings a refreshingly warm and witty tone to the uncomfortable topic of planning for one's death. Through relatable scenarios and a likeable spokesperson, the campaign highlights the importance of turning intention into legal action—because "it doesn't count unless you make it official." "Make it Count" debuted with two TV commercials, "Kids" and "Car," and later expanded with "Dock" and "Vacationing Parents." The campaign resonated deeply with audiences, leading to a 30% increase in response rate over previous TV efforts and significant lift in purchase intent. "We're incredibly grateful for this recognition. It reinforces our belief that estate planning can be both approachable and deeply meaningful," says Dale Sperling, Chief Marketing Officer at Trust & Will. "With 'Make it Count,' we set out to tell universal stories in a way that feels human and relatable. Being honored for that work is a powerful reminder that connecting through honesty, humor, and heart really does resonate." "Many people think they've taken care of what happens to their assets or kids just because they had a heart-to-heart with a relative," says Vivienne Wan, VP Creative at Marketing Architects. "We leaned into this truth by creating a spokesperson who interrupts these sweet-yet-ineffectual moments. He's like a good-humored coach bringing wisdom, but also lightness, to a heavy topic." "Trust & Will's goal was to change the narrative around end-of-life planning," adds Elena Petukhova, VP Client Growth at Marketing Architects. "Through TV, we were able to deliver their message at scale while building trust in a historically offline category." Blending performance and brand building, "Make it Count" helped position Trust & Will as the modern solution for estate planning. The campaign's success demonstrates the power of thoughtful storytelling and the enduring impact of TV. Veterans chili cook-off fundraiser held in Westover
WESTOVER, (WBOY) — Sunday was a day full of chili and motorcycles at Triple S Harley-Davidson in Westover, where the dealership hosted a chili cook-off to fund activities for local veterans and first responders. The event was held to benefit ActiVet, a Morgantown-based charity that works as a support system for veterans and first responders in north central West Virginia. 12 News spoke with ActiVet President and CEO Charles Ghuste, who took a leading role in the organization after his son CJ, a decorated army veteran, was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident. '[CJ] came back and he said 'Dad, we gotta do something for veterans,'' Ghuste said. 'Anything to get the veterans out to do things so that they're not sitting at home thinking about bad stuff.' ActiVet organizes group outings that are completely free for veterans and first responders to attend. These events include things like sporting events, recreational sports teams, fishing trips, paintball, cookouts, bowling and more. 'Any first responders, any veterans in your family, or friends, anybody that you know of, please let 'em know about us,' Ghuste said. 'It doesn't cost them anything to come out and hang out with us, […] we don't pressure people, we let people come out; if they want to talk, they can talk, if they don't, that's fine too.' Scouts hone their winter survival skills in Doddridge County Jennifer Sutherland, a staff member at Triple S Harley-Davidson, told 12 News that the cook-off had raised more the $2,000 before the event had even ended, and 12 News sales staff member Rod Jacques won Judge's Choice in the chili cook-off. If you or someone you know is interested in attending an ActiVet event, you can find a calendar of upcoming events along with more information about the organization on the ActiVet website.
