Supreme Court Declines to Require Parental Consent for Abortion
The US Supreme Court turned away a new effort to restrict abortion, declining to hear arguments that parents have a constitutional right to prevent their underage child from ending a pregnancy.
The justices said Thursday they won't revive a Montana law that required doctors to get written consent from a parent or guardian before performing an abortion on a patient under 18. The measure included a provision allowing for judicial bypass in certain cases.
