Coronation Street favourite facing years in prison for MURDER as actress quits soap
CORONATION Street's Eileen Grimshaw is facing 14 years in prison having been accused of murdering her sister Julie Carp. The taxi controller - who is played by actress Sue Cleaver in the ITV soap - was horrified to be hauled into the police station in the middle of drinks to remember Julie in the pub. 3 3 George offered to buy Craig a drink but he declined and turned to Eileen saying: 'I would like it if I could have a quiet word with you.' She asked what about before adding: 'Craig, my sister died yesterday and I'm in here having a drink in her memory with her friends so either tell me what it's about or just leave me alone.' Craig said: 'We need to ask you a few questions down the station in relation to her death.' Eileen demanded to know what Craig was talking about and who had accused her of doing something. She turned to George and accused him of reporting her as everyone in the Rovers listened in, before agreeing to go with Craig. But with her gone, George was horrified to discover the true culprit who reported Eileen - Brian Packham. Julie's love was furious to think Eileen helped Julie died and said he was proud of reporting her. George thundered: 'Shame on you.' Meanwhile at the station Eileen was terrified when Lisa Swain advised her to get a solicitor for an interview under caution. Viewers know Julie took her own life while facing death from terminal cancer. As Lisa interviewed her, she demanded to know if Eileen had helped Julie. Later at home, Eileen was devastated and told George: 'I'm going to get charged for her murder, killing my own flesh and blood.' CORONATION Street fans have worked out a shocking murder twist that could spell disaster for one character. Viewers of the ITV soap opera were left utterly devastated when Julie Carp, played by Katy Cavanagh, died in incredibly heartbreaking scenes. 5 5 Julie had been struggling with a terminal cancer battle and returned to live with her sister, Eileen, played by Sue Cleaver, for her final few months alive. In a tragic turn of events, Julie chose to end her own life after saying a slew of personal goodbyes to her nearest and dearest. She passed away by a lake after organising her own perfect final day. However, Eileen was none the wiser to her plan until Todd suggested that everything pointed to a suicide. Now, fans think that Julie's sad death could trigger an unexpected version of events for Eileen. With Eileen having been alone with Julie at the time of her death, and Julie still having a life expectancy of a few months, fans have theorised that Eileen could be seen as complicit in her death. Coronation Street fans divided as beloved star leaves soap with emotional exit scenes - as some break down in tears while others slam 'rushed and boring' goodbye
Coronation Street fans were left divided after actress Katy Cavanagh left the ITV soap with emotional exit scenes on Monday night. The latest episode of the show saw her alter-ego Julie Carp video a goodbye message to her friends and family after her battle with cancer. The scenes left those watching at home feel very emotional, but while some broke down in tears, others slammed the 'rushed and boring' ending. Julie said in the video: 'I've got, I had a decent amount of insight into how people's hearts work. 'I learnt a lot about love, usually the hard way. but those are the lessons you don't forget. 'Some folk don't believe in the one, rubbish. 'Because when you know, my God, you know. Might take five minutes, or five years, but when they penny drops, you realise what your life is for. 'How it feels to care about someone else more than you care about yourself. 'But if you don't have that, if things have grown tired and functional, like that pair of shoes that once took your eye, but you only keep on know for the sake of it, take a good hard look.' She finished the message with: 'I loved and I was loved. Job done. 'So I best sign off now. But think on. 'Hug whoever you live a little tighter tonight.' Many rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share how emotional they felt. One said: 'Just started crying really bad actually.' 'Just watched Coronation Street. Sad. RIP Julie Carp. Later on in the episode, before Julie passes away, she heads off to the park with her sister Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver). When Eileen heads off for a cup of tea for them both to drink, she returns to her sister with her eyes shut lying on the floor. She called the ambulance and was told that she had a 'DNR' on her notes and the paramedics told her that there was nothing they could do for her. Last week it was revealed that Julie would be killed off in heartbreaking scenes. Katy Cavanagh joined the ITV soap as the factory machinist back in 2008. The star's first stint on the Cobbles was from 2008 to 2015. She later rejoined the cast this year. Julie returned to Weatherfield back in February and shared the heartbreaking news of her diagnosis with a rare form of cancer Sarcoma, leaving sister Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) heartbroken. Over the past few months she has been spending time with her loved ones, including Eileen and her nephew Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce). Earlier this year Todd accidentally found Julie's medicine that she was taking for her diagnosis. Julie told Todd: 'Sarcoma. That's what the cancer is called. It started in the soft tissue around my stomach.' She continued: 'It's stage four, it's spread to my liver and lungs. 'The chemo can slow it down but it can't cure it.' A devastated Todd asked her how long she had left, to which she said: 'If I'm lucky I'll see this summer.' Speaking about her return to Weatherfield, Katy said: 'It was really lovely to get the call. 'It is something I haven't thought about for many years. 'And I'm very fond of Julie, so it was a good feeling. 'It also felt good to be asked to be part of Eileen's departure story it is perfect to come and have some closure on Julie and Eileen. 'Sue and I go back to my very first job on The Cops so it is a full circle moment. It also attracted me as it was for a short set period of time and I could fit it in with the other things going on in my life.' Sue - who plays Eileen - announced she was leaving the ITV soap last year. Coronation Street isn't the only programme that Katy has appeared in over the years. She has appeared in Holby City, The Bill, Shameless and Blue Murder. Katy is married to Chris Jupe and the pair share three kids.
