Canada's Julien Viel wins dual moguls bronze at World Cup event in China
Canadian freestyle skier Julien Viel captured a bronze medal at a World Cup dual moguls event in Beidahu, China, on Saturday. Viel, of Mont-Saint-Anne, Que., beat American Nick Page by a single point to win the small final. Severi Vierela of Finland won gold while Japan's Ikuma Horishima took silver. Mikaël Kingsbury, of Deux-Montagnes, Que., was eliminated in the quarterfinals. The rare podium miss means that Kingsbury now has nine medals (six golds, three silvers) across 12 events this season. On the women's side, Americans Jaelin Kauf and Tess Johnson took gold and brinze, respectively. Perrine Laffont of France rounded out the podium with silver. Saskatoon's Maia Schwinghammer was eliminated in the 1/8th finals. The World Cup moguls circuit continues next weekend in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
