Hymas, Stanford turn it on to win Jumeirah Pairs by The Brain and Performance Centre
Under the relentless Dubai sun, 80 determined golfers teed it up for the Jumeirah Pairs by The Brain and Performance Centre, a DP World Company, in a spirited showcase of camaraderie at the Jumeirah Golf Estates. The format for the day was a Pairs Combined Stableford, where each golfer played their own ball, and scores were tallied by combining each pair's stableford points per hole. With this format encouraging both consistency and occasional bold shot-making, it made for compelling golf from start to finish. Players were also reminded to pick up if they could no longer score on a hole — a small but strategic twist that kept the pace brisk and competitive. Men played from the specially marked composite tees, while women took on the course from forward tees, setting the stage for a fair and balanced contest. Beyond the main competition, players vied for glory in several on-course challenges, including the ever-popular "Beat the Pro" against Brandon Moodley on Hole 4, as well as Nearest the Pin contests on Holes 6 and 17, and Nearest the Pin in Two on Hole 10. Rising to the occasion in the Beat the Pro challenge was Nick Hymas, who not only bested the pro but would go on to leave his mark on the overall tournament as well. Precision play was on full display throughout the course. Carl Downham took Nearest the Pin honors on Hole 6, while Mitsuko Emmerson showcased her accuracy on Hole 17. On the longer test at Hole 10, Abdulla Darwish earned bragging rights for Nearest the Pin in Two. In the main competition, there was no shortage of drama as scores climbed and leaders jostled for the top spot. In third place were Moustafa Shahin and Eric Shehadeh, finishing strong with a combined 74 points. Just ahead of them, Edward McCullagh and Montek Mayal clinched the runner-up position with a solid 76 points. But it was Nick Hymas and Richard Stanford who truly stole the show. Their outstanding round, marked by sharp iron play, steady putting, and that winning mentality, earned them a superb 80 Stableford points, securing their place as the champions of the May Jumeirah Pairs. Meanwhile, in the Gross Division — judged purely on raw scoring — the team of Ed East and Thomas Kennedy impressed with an excellent total of 60 points, proving that power and precision can go hand in hand. Hymas & Stanford triumph at Jumeirah Pairs by The Brain & Performance Centre
The March edition of the Jumeirah Pairs, presented by The Brain & Performance Centre, a DP World Company, saw an electrifying contest unfold over the Fire Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates. A packed field of 60 members and guests turned up for this ever-popular event, where precision, teamwork, and strategy were put to the ultimate test. Rising to the occasion, Nick Hymas and Richard Stanford delivered a masterclass in consistency, storming to victory with a blemish-free 12-under-par net 60 (gross 66). Their round was laced with six gross birdies, showcasing their seamless synergy on the course. Reflecting on their triumph, Hymas was all praise for his playing partner and the course conditions. 'Richard and I were in sync all day, making smart decisions and feeding off each other's confidence. The competition followed a Pairs Scramble format, with men playing from the Composite Tees and women from the Forward Tees. Each player was required to contribute a minimum of six tee shots, ensuring a true test of partnership and strategy. Close behind the champions, Daniel Lobel and Arjun Khanna posted an impressive 10-under-par net 62, just two shots adrift of the winners. Meanwhile, the battle for third place came down to a nail-biting three-way countback, with Kehar Narismulu and James Strang edging out their rivals to claim the final podium spot at 9-under-par net 63. In the Gross Division, Adam Hodgkins and Zak Taher produced a stellar performance of their own, carding a brilliant 7-under-par gross of 65. Purdy and Bainbridge win February Jumeirah Pairs with dominant performance at JGC
'We played incredibly well today,' said Thomas Purdy (5), reflecting on the exceptional performance he and his partner, David Bainbridge (Scr), put together to claim victory in the February edition of the Jumeirah Pairs, hosted by The Brain & Performance Centre, a DP World Company. The duo finished with an impressive 45 Stableford points, outshining a competitive field of 108 members and their guests. Played in a Pairs Betterball Stableford format on the Earth Course, with competitors teeing off from the Composite Tees for men and the Forward Tees for women, the tournament provided plenty of challenges. Bainbridge's five birdies and Purdy's steady round, including birdies on holes 13 and 15, led them to victory. Their strong performance earned them the win on a back-nine countback, edging out Nick Hymas (14) and Richard Stanford (13), who also finished with 45 points. Reflecting on their victory, Purdy said: 'David and I played incredibly well today, and we both greatly enjoyed the challenge of the Earth course. The course was in immaculate condition, and we extend our gratitude to the Agronomy Team at Jumeirah Golf Estates. Kraemers kick off 2025 by holding on for exciting Jumeirah Pairs victory
Ivan Kraemer is looking forward to an exciting year at Jumeirah Golf Estates after teaming up with his son, Byron, to win the first monthly Jumeirah Pairs Tournament of 2025. The season opener welcomed 108 members and guests to the world-class Earth course for a Combined Pairs Stableford format. With gentlemen playing from the Composite Tees and ladies from the Forward Tees, the tournament got the year off to a stylish and competitive start. Sponsored by The Brain and Performance Centre, a DP World Company, the event saw the Kraemer deliver a standout performance to claim the top spot. The father-and-son duo posted an impressive 76 Stableford points in the 95% handicap format, showcasing remarkable teamwork throughout the day. Their only stumble came on the tricky par-3 13th hole, but their consistent play carried them to victory. After the win, Ivan shared: 'My son and I played incredibly well today, and we both greatly enjoyed the Earth course. "It looks like a very exciting year ahead here at Jumeirah Golf Estates, and we look forward to the upcoming Jumeirah Pairs events in 2025, which are always elevated by the support of The Brain and Performance Centre.' The competition was intense, with Nick Hymas and Ghazi Aurangzeb finishing just one point behind at 75 Stableford points. Their round featured 14 net birdies, but the demanding par-5 18th hole proved costly, leaving them narrowly short of victory. Claiming third place with 70 Stableford points were Richard Aybar and Alan McNamara. The low-handicap duo made their mark with gross birdies on the challenging par-4 third hole, giving their score a crucial boost. Adding to the excitement were several on-course competitions, also sponsored by The Brain and Performance Centre. Martin Stewart won the Nearest the Pin prize with a stunning tee shot that landed within a foot of the hole on the par-3 6th. On the 10th hole, Peter Martensson impressed with a Nearest the Pin in two, nearly holing out from the fairway and finishing just 4 inches short. Meanwhile, Blake Portlock claimed the sponsor's Nearest the Pin prize on the iconic par-3 17th, thanks to a superb tee shot that left him with a simple birdie tap-in. The event concluded with a prize-giving ceremony in the elegant Ballroom, where Cameron McWhinnie, Assistant Golf Services Manager at Jumeirah Golf Estates, expressed his appreciation.
