'Mayele will score against Sundowns' – Khanye makes CAF CL final prediction
Former Kaizer Chiefs attacker Junior Khanye has predicted Mamelodi Sundowns to lose the CAF Champions League final to Pyramids on Sunday. The two teams play in the second leg of the final on Sunday evening after the first leg ended 0-0 in Pretoria last weekend. Masandawana need to win or force a scoring draw to win their first CAF CL title in nine years. This is the third time the Brazilians have managed to reach the final of the competition. Speaking on iDiski TV, Khanye felt Sundowns were less confident going into the final 'Sundowns were supposed to win here (at home), so going away is not going to be easy. As I said when the Champions League started, Sundowns will never win it. They have quality players and they are a quality team but going to the game, they don't have the confidence to win away,' he said. 'Personally, I don't think they will trouble Pyramids. They will have their moment, but their coach…' The former winger said the match will likely finish 0-0 after extra time or end with Pyramids winning. 'I see the game finishing 0-0 or it will end 2-1. Sundowns will probably score but won't win the game. Mayele is going to score tomorrow, he will score the winning goal.' Junior Khanye identifies Orlando Pirates' next skipper
Junior Khanye is in no doubt about who the next Orlando Pirates skipper should be. Do you agree with the former Kaizer Chiefs man? Mbekezeli Mbokazi has exploded onto the scene, immediately making himself an Orlando Pirates regular at the age of 19. The central defender's rapid rise isn't lost on Junior Khanye. In his breakout campaign, the stylish left-footer has made 15 appearances across all competitions. He'll only turn 20 in September. 'He's a future captain of Pirates, this boy Mbokazi,' said Khanye on iDiski TV. 'He has leadership skills, and you know how sometimes they say you are born for something; he was born to be a leader. Some of the things he does do not need coaching. The boy gets in the midfield with the ball, just driving for about 30m with the ball on his feet. His ball control, how he's able to protect it and force a foul or even delaying until his teammates get into the Golden Arrows' half and then hit a decisive pass. 'Well done to the boy. Like I said, he has leadership skills, and if you can look at this boy, even at the back he is helping [Tapelo] Xoki a lot. So many mistakes from Xoki for me, and always being late. I know he's a senior player, but the boy his quality. He is strong on his feet, his awareness, anticipation, a lot of things and how he communicates, well done to the boy.' According to UnplayableZA on X, 23-year-old Tshepo Mashiloane will join Pirates from Baroka FC. The versatile star can operate at right-back or in central midfield. There are reports that Pirates are also close to wrapping up a deal for Baroka's winger Kabelo Kgositsile. Orlando Pirates will be eager to give Jose Riveiro a proper sendoff in their remaining fixtures. The first one of those is against TS Galaxy on Saturday, 17 May, with kickoff at 15:00. Makhehlene Makhaula will miss the match after being ruled out for the rest of the season. Is this the best Orlando Pirates XI after Riveiro leaves? Do you think Mbokazi is a futrue Orlando Pirates captain and legend? Let us know by leaving a comment below or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. 'The score not a true reflection': Junior Khanye reacts to Kaizer Chiefs' Soweto Derby loss
Former South African U/20 winger Junior Khanye felt Kaizer Chiefs were lucky not to concede more goals following their 2-1 loss to Orlando Pirates on Saturday afternoon. Goals from Evidence Makgopa and Relebohile Mofokeng were enough to see the Buccaneers complete a league double over their Soweto rivals. Amakhosi scored in the second minute through Makabi Lilepo; however, the Sea Robbers came back to earn another victory over Chiefs. 'Let's start with Orlando Pirates. Psychologically, I don't think they are ok, especially after having been knocked out of the CAF Champions League semi-final. Having played so well in the second leg, only to lose the game. Also losing midweek, it hurt them a lot,' Khanye said on iDiski TV . 'I think they accepted that they lost the league. You could see how they played in the first 20 minutes. Well done to Jose Riveiro for making the right decision and not panicking.' Khanye felt Kaizer Chiefs could have conceded more goals, but Mohau Nkota's poor finishing spared their blushes. 'The score is not a true reflection of the game; it was supposed to be five. Pirates missed so many chances after conceding. In the second half, the coach brought in Kabelo Dlamini,' he added. 'That boy Nkota, he alone should have scored two or three goals today.' 'In the second half, Kaizer Chiefs deserved to get a red card, Pirates were coming at them; one v one, they were exposed,' Khanye said. Amakhosi will face Pirates once again in the Nedbank Cup final next weekend. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. 'End of the road for Sundowns in Champions League' - ex-Chiefs winger
Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has predicted Mamelodi Sundowns to lose against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League semi-final. The two teams played each other this past weekend at the Loftus Versfeld in the first leg of the semi-final. Masandawana were lucky to escape with a draw after Al Ahly hit the post and had one goal ruled offside. After the match, former Chiefs star felt Sundowns stood no chance against the Red Devils in Cairo. 'I have said it before they [Sundowns] are not going to win the Champions League,' said Khanye on iDiski TV. 'This is the end of the road. They are going away and the team they are playing against is a different team. The Ahly that played in the group stage and this one are two different. Technically they are something else. You look at number11 [Nejc Gradisar] he has something special but can't compare to number 22 [Emam Abdelghany] because 22 is something else. 'In front of his home crowd, I'm sure the coach though he will be cautious he will give him freedom to play and he's going to want him to score. They are going to beat Sundowns away.' Masandawana need to win or force a goalscoring draw to reach only their second final. In Cairo, the odds are stacked against Miguel Cardoso's men, who are desperate to end their semi-final curse. Sundowns have never reached the Champions League final since winning the competition in 2016. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211.
