9 players from Sri Guru Gobind Singh College to represent Chandigarh at Junior National Championship

It's game time in Jalandhar, and Sri Guru Gobind Singh College in Chandigarh Sector 26 is sending a power-packed contingent to the turf. Nine of its finest hockey talents have been named in the Chandigarh squad for the prestigious 15th Junior Men National Hockey Championship, being held from August 12 to 23 in Punjab's hockey heartland. Leading the charge is captain Prabhjot Singh, a BA second-year student, Junior National (Chandigarh) silver medallist, and Junior India camper, with Fateh Singh as vice-captain. The formidable line-up also includes Premjeet Singh, Sharandeep Singh, Rishav, Sukhampal Singh, Satnam Singh, Mohd Zaid, and Dheeraj. Professor (Dr) Gurcharan Singh Gill, the team in-charge, and principal Dr Jaswinder Singh have expressed confidence in the squad. 'We wish our team the very best and hope they make us proud,' said Dr Jaswinder Singh, adding that he expects the players to bring glory to both the college and the Chandigarh team. Dr Gill underlined the scale of the competition: 30 teams from across the country, split into divisions A, B, and C, will compete in a new format comprising league matches leading into knockout rounds. 'With skill, determination, and team spirit, SGGS College aims to make a lasting mark on the national stage,' he said. With sticks in hand, eyes on the goal, and the spirit of champions, these nine players are ready to script their own hockey success story.
