Universal Studios Singapore The ground is hot; the lines are long; the smell of fairy floss sticks to the air; and the clattering sound of rollercoasters batter overhead. This is Universal Studios Singapore, a theme park that spans about 25 hectares and features seven imagination zones. Daredevils will enjoy the Revenge of the Mummy rollercoaster, a dark, indoor rollercoaster with pyrotechnics, as well as the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure, where riders traverse river rapids past towering animatronic dinosaurs. At one point, the kid next to me said, "You're going to want to hold on now." HOT TIP: Limited Express Passes, from $S90, give riders the ability to cut the queues. While it feels a bit wrong to overtake people who have stood in line for hours, it's a rare luxury for those who want to buy their time back. Harry Potter: Visions of Magic Even the most muggle-minded will be converted by the art-meets-technology Harry Potter: Visions of Magic experience. Melt into childlike bliss as you wave your wand, casting spells and conjuring light effects through 10 immersive rooms, including Ministries of Magic and the Chamber of Secrets (a Singapore exclusive). HOT TIP: Our guide tells us the best time to visit is on a weekday around 2pm or 3pm to beat the crowds. Adventure Cove Waterpark Singapore doesn't do seasons - it does summer on repeat. Adventure Cove Waterpark is the perfect place to escape the heat on holiday with the kids. Grab a ring flotation device and start your journey with the Adventure River, which winds through 14 themed zones - past stingrays, underwater tunnels and jungle scenes. GOOD TO KNOW: Expect to paddle (or walk) your way down the Adventure River as there is no current to pull you along. The waterslides are also a must. Grillfest Every year, Sentosa Island hosts a food festival on Siloso Beach throughout July/August. Popular with locals, GrillFest includes live music and countless stores selling meats and seafood. HIGHLIGHTS: The grilled lobster and cocktails infused with fruit and herbal teas from Gryphon Tea Company.

KRU singer Yusry grateful for return of lost phone at Universal Studios SG

Malaysian singer Yusry Abdul Halim had visited the theme park with his wife, Malaysian actress Lisa Surihani, and their three children. Photo: Yusry Abdul Halim/Instagram What was supposed to be a fun day with his family turned out to be a downer for Malaysian singer Datuk Yusry Abdul Halim from pop trio KRU, after losing his iPhone during a visit to Universal Studios Singapore (USS) on June 29. But the 52-year-old's distress was short-lived, as the phone was found later on the same day. In a June 30 post on social media platform Threads, Yusry wrote that his phone went missing at Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure, an outdoors river raft ride at USS. The actor-director visited the theme park at Resorts World Sentosa with his wife, Malaysian actress Lisa Surihani, 39, and their three children aged four to to nine a day after KRU staged their Singapore concert at The Star Theatre on June 28. Yusry 'felt quite miserable' about the incident. He reported the loss and accepted that his phone was gone forever. The family then headed to a relative's house to have dinner. At 7.45pm, Lisa received a call from USS informing her that a phone that matches the description of Yusry's had been found. He conveyed his thanks in a mix of English and Malay: 'Whoever found an iPhone with a black cover and returned it, may Allah repay your kindness and make your fortune abundant.' The music star's post garnered over 100 comments, many of them expressing relief and happiness. Some netizens recounted their own experiences of losing their items in public places, while others wrote that items left behind in public in Singapore have a good chance of being returned due its civic-minded citizens. KRU, which also comprise Yusry's brothers Edry, 49 and Datuk Norman Abdul Halim, 53, are best known for 1990s pop, hip-hop and R&B hits such as Jangan Lafazkan (1999). The group has also won multiple awards including Anugerah Industri Muzik 1995's Best Pop Album for Awas (1994). The trio built the KRU brand into an entertainment empire that spans music, film and live events. They also wrote and produced hits for other popular music acts such as Anita Sarawak and Anuar Zain. The group disbanded in 2018, but reunited in 2024 and released its 15th album, Kaset , in April. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
