Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer leaks online after exclusive screening, fans say another billion to James Cameron

The trailer for James Cameron's upcoming fantasy epic, Avatar: Fire and Ash was leaked online shortly after it was exclusively screened in theatres. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney had attached the trailer specifically with 'Fantastic Four: First Steps' across cinema halls, only for the unauthorised visuals to make their way across social media platforms. A still from Avatar: Fire and Ash Multiple copies taken down Efforts are being made to reduce the viral circulation of the Fire and Ash trailer, with multiple copies now taken down from the internet. The same happened with Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, the trailer of which was released in theatres ahead of Jurassic Park Rebirth. Fans reaction gained momentum Even though multiple videos of the Avatar sequel's trailer have been removed, fan reactions have already gained momentum. One of the fans wrote, "The trailer has some of the most beautiful footage I've seen all year, and I was struck by the real sense of doom and rage -- fist fights inside of cosmic volcanoes, heroes terrified, huge aerial battles," as quoted by the outlet. One more added, "It started out as 'meh, more of the same' and ended with 'yup, another billion to James Cameron." The trailer will send viewers back to Pandora, further introducing two tribes, the Wind Traders and the Ash People clan. It also includes glimpses of Sam Worthington's Jake Sully, Zoe Saldana's Neytiri, and his Na'vi family, embroiled in an intense fight with the Ash People clan, stated The Hollywood Reporter. It also shows the return of Colonel Miles Quaritch. At one point, Sully warned Neytiri and said, "We cannot live like this," before being taken into captivity. The trailer leak came days after the makers unveiled the first look of 'Avatar: Fire and Ash, introducing the first look of Varang - a new antagonist. "Meet Varang in Avatar: Fire and Ash. Be among the first to watch the trailer, exclusively in theatres this weekend with The Fantastic Four: First Steps," they wrote in the caption. The Disney film will be released on 19 December 2025. Christopher Nolan's Epic ‘The Odyssey' Teaser Trailer Leaks Online

The hotly anticipated first trailer for Christopher Nolan's next film, The Odyssey, has been released into the wild. Universal has placed the trailer for the film — billed as a 'mythic action epic' — in front of Jurassic Park Rebirth, which has its first screenings Tuesday evening. More from The Hollywood Reporter BTS Slate Spring 2026 Return With New Music and World Tour Jennifer Aniston to Star in 'I'm Glad My Mom Died' Series at Apple TV+ Glen Powell Is Desperate to Win a Killer Competition Show in 'The Running Man' Trailer The trailer wasn't officially released online. Nolan prefers his trailers to be a cinematic experience, and the first teaser trailer for his Oscar-winning 2023 blockbuster Oppenheimer likewise debuted only in theaters. Yet, unfortunately for Universal and Nolan, smartphones exist. So almost immediately, the trailer popped up on X (and the resulting video is, needless to say, less than cinematic in quality). The Hollywood Reporter is not linking to the leaked trailer, though there's a description of it below. Releasing the trailer so early is a bit unusual, as The Odyssey is still filming and not being released until July of next year. But given that the new Jurassic World film is expected to open to at least $100 million at the box office and represents Universal's biggest and safest bet on its release docket for months, coupling Jurassic with the first push for Nolan's big event film makes sense. Since the adaptation of the ancient Greek epic poem isn't finished, it's perhaps no surprise the resulting trailer is very much a teaser. The teaser opens with shots of a dark ocean along with the voiceover: 'Darkness. Zeus' law smashed to pieces. I'm without a king since my master died. He knew it was an unwinnable war. And then, somehow, he won it.' Then the trailer shows a scene with Tom Holland as Odysseus' son Telemachus having a conversation with an as-yet-unnamed character played by Jon Bernthal. 'I have to find out what happened to my father,' Telemachus says, to which Bernthal's character says loudly to a room, 'Who has a story about Odysseus? You? You have a story? Some say he's rich. Some say he's poor. Some said he perished. Some said he's imprisoned.' Then the trailer shows driftwood at sea with a man laying on it — presumably Matt Damon as the Greek king. In addition, the celebrity-filled cast includes Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron and Mia Goth. The Odyssey has a budget of $250 million, which will make it the most expensive film of Nolan's career. It will be shot entirely using Imax cameras, making it the first film with a major scope to do so. While one is tempted to use the word 'gamble' to describe the project, the billion-dollar success of Nolan's atomic energy biopic a couple years back proved yet again he's one of the few directors who can reliably open a film, and The Odyssey's epic scope and star-filled cast should prove a major draw. The classic story follows the king of Ithaca as he undertakes a long and perilous journey home following the Trojan War. The original story has Odysseus encountering a succession of mythical beings such as the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens, the enchantress Circe, and travels to the Underworld. Filming got underway in February at locations in Greece, Morocco and Italy. The film is slated to be released July 17, 2026. 'Jurassic World: Rebirth' star just became highest-grossing actor all-time

There's a new leader in the clubhouse as Scarlett Johansson has emerged atop the rankings of the highest grossing actor of all-time worldwide thanks to the success of Jurassic Park Rebirth. The newest entry into the wildly popular dinosaur franchise had a T-Rex sized Fourth of July holiday weekend, raking in $147 million domestically and $318 million worldwide. EVERY JURASSIC MOVIE, RANKED: We ranked all seven of them Johansson, who stars alongside Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali in Rebirth, plays Zora Bennett, a for-hire acquirer of sorts that is pulled into a mission to retrieve some dinosaur DNA. With the success of Rebirth, Johansson has passed fellow Marvel co-stars Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Downey Jr. on the list of highest-grossing actors. The top-10 actors on the list all have MCU ties -- except Tom Cruise at No. 6 -- with many of them having multiple high-ranking franchises under their belts. Johansson had her breakout in 2003 in Lost In Translation before going on to star in films like Match Point, The Prestige, Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit, along with being a favorite of Wes Anderson. She's been in eight Marvel movies, spanning from Iron Man 2 (2010) to Black Widow (2021), and Johansson has lended her voice to movies like Her, Sing and Sing 2. Johansson is the second Marvel star to break into the Jurassic franchise with Chris Pratt starring in Jurassic World, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Jurassic World: Dominion.

Scarlett Johansson becomes highest-grossing lead actor EVER after Jurassic Park Rebirth opens with $318M

Scarlett Johansson just passed her fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe co-stars Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Downey Jr. as the highest-grossing lead actor ever. The 40-year-old actress accomplished this impressive feat over the 4th of July holiday weekend, with the monstrous debut of her new film Jurassic Park Rebirth. The seventh installment of the Jurassic Park franchise took in a whopping $147.3 million at the domestic box office since opening last Wednesday, and $318.3 million worldwide. Those figures bring Johanssen's worldwide total for leading roles up to $14.61 billion, just surpassing Samuel L. Jackson ($14.60 billion) and Robert Downey Jr. ($14.3 billion), according to The Numbers. What's perhaps even more impressive than that is Johansson managed to surpass her MCU peers in just 36 movies with leading roles, compared to Jackson's 71 films and Downey Jr.'s 45 films, coming after recent comments about how she fought her way out of being cast in movies as a 'sex symbol.' She also has her male MCU co-stars beat in in average gross for her movies, with Johansson's average worldwide gross at $405.9 million, far ahead of Jackson ($205.7 million) and Downey Jr. ($318.1 million). However, both Jackson and Downey Jr. have her beat as the top stars for the domestic box office. Jackson - who also starred in the Star Wars prequel trilogy as Mace Windu - leads the way with $5.8 billion, ahead of Downey Jr. ($5.47 billion) and Johansson ($5.41 billion). Of course, not all films are counted in these grosses, including Oppenheimer, which Downey Jr. won a Supporting Actor Oscar for, so its $976 million worldwide gross is not counted for his tally. The tallies for each actor includes both traditional lead roles or 'lead ensemble' roles, which means all of the Marvel movies Johansson, Jackson and Downey Jr. starred in will count towards their grosses in this regard. With Downey returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday next year and in Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, it's possible he could pass both Jackson and Johansson in the years to come. As for Jurassic World Rebirth - the only new release in theaters over the long holiday weekend - it took in an estimated $91.5 million from the traditional Friday-Sunday weekend, with a domestic tally since Wednesday of $147.3 million. It also took in $171 million from foreign markets for a worldwide debut of $317.8 million at the global box office. It has already nearly doubled its reported budget of $180 million in one weekend, and could be making a run at the two biggest movies of the year. As for Jurassic World Rebirth - the only new release in theaters over the long holiday weekend - it took in an estimated $91.5 million from the traditional Friday-Sunday weekend, with a domestic tally since Wednesday of $147.3 million. The top 5 was rounded out by Warner Bros.' F1 ($26 million, $109.5 million domestic), Universal's How to Train Your Dragon ($11 million, $224 million domestic), Disney's Elio ($5.7 million, $55 million domestic) and Sony's 28 Years Later ($4.6 million, $60.2 million domestic). Warner Bros.' A Minecraft Movie ($423.9 million) and Disney's Lilo & Stitch live-action remake ($408.5 million) are currently the top domestic films of 2025, though only one film has passed $1 billion this year - the Chinese-language film Ne Zha 2, which has earned a whopping $1.89 billion almost entirely from the Middle Kingdom. Jurassic World Rebirth will be facing some very stiff competition in the coming weeks, with Warner Bros.' Superman debuting this weekend, which is currently tracking to open somewhere between $130 million and $170 million at the domestic box office. Paramount's Smurfs and Sony's I Know What You Did Last Summer open on July 18 with Marvel/Disney's Fantastic Four: First Steps arriving on July 25.
