Sambhal ‘critical' for BJP in all yardstick, says party's organisational in-charge
Describing Sambhal, 'critical' for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in all yardstick, organizational Election In-charge of the party in the district on Monday ()May 5, 2025) said the saffron party gave representation to 12 Caste groups in block level organization team recently, signaling caste outreach in the sensitive district.
Speaking to The Hindu, Pushkar Mishra, Organisational Election In-charge of the party said broader representation of all social segment has been the aim of the ruling party, pushing the West U.P. district as 'critical' for the BJP in all parameters.
'Giving proper representation to all social groups within the organisational and electoral structure is the working ideology of the BJP. In early, 1990s, I suggested the idea to K. N. Govindacharya to give every class and caste of the Indian society due representation. He gave a statement on 'social engineering' which was widely quoted all over, later on during the presidency of Nitin Gadkari Ji, the same blueprint was prepared to give representation to various social segments, which was executed by Shri Amit Shah Ji after 2014. Recently, as organizational in-charge of Sambhal, we gave representation to 12 caste groups as Mandal president out of 18 names declared. In the next few days, the rest two Mandal presidents will be announced. The strength of the BJP lies in its capability of giving representation to each and every section of the society, unlike other parties which are caste or family parties,' said Pushkar Mishra, organizational Election In-charge of BJP Sambhal. Mandal, similar to block is a key unit at the lower level of the BJP structure.
Out of the 18 declared presidents, nine are from Other Backward Classes (OBC) category while two hails from the Rajput community, three Brahmins. Among OBCs, one hails from Kushwaha community, two Jat, one from Saini community, three from Yadav community. One Jatav (Scheduled Caste), one Pasi (Scheduled Caste) are also giving responsibility of Mandal (block) president. There is no Muslim in the list.
On asked how he sees Sambhal, Dr. Mishra, a trained sociologist with a PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) described Sambhal 'critical' for the BJP in all yard's tick, added, 'Sambhal is one of the district that faced has riotous violence time and again throughout history, now for the first time communities which suffered, had now able to articulate concerns and political consciousness. The city is bound to become one of beacons of articulating civilizational consciousness and critical for the BJP in all yardstick,'.
Sambhal, a west U.P. town remain in limelight as it witnessed violence on November 24, the second day of the Shahi Jama Mosque survey as protesters gathered near the mosque and clashed with U.P. police personnel, leading to heavy stone pelting and alleged gun shots being fired by cops with U.P. police claimed of using 'mild force' to control the situation. Five people died and several others were injured in the clashes. U.P. police denied charges that it fired at the protesters. The Supreme Court since ordered the Sambhal trial court to halt proceedings in the case and its survey.
