Abilene police K9 units win several regional awards
ABILENE, Texas () – Four teams from the Abilene Police Department's K9 unit received regional awards recently.
Teams traveled to the Region 20 and 25 United States Canine Trials recently, where they received the following awards:
Officer Kevin Easley and K9 Jon – 1st Place in Patrol, 2nd Place in Evidence Detection, and 5th Place in Tracking.
Officer Tim Cox and K9 Barco – 1st Place in Tracking, and 5th Place in Narcotics.
Officer Andrew Squyres and K9 Rip – 3rd Place in Evidence Detection.
Officer Jacob Kartchner and K9 Panzer – 3rd Place in Tracking.
Abilene's K9 teams are trained to aid with tracking and sniffing out illegal substances, such as narcotics.
