Outdoor pools opening delayed across Kansas City metro
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer, but for those wanting to hit outdoor pools, they're going to have to wait another week.
Kansas City Parks & Recreation announced on Friday that, due to unseasonably cooler weather and water temperatures, all outdoor swimming pools will remain closed over Memorial Day weekend.

The outdoor pools and water parks will officially open for the 2025 season on Friday, May 30.
'While we know residents look forward to the official start of the summer swim season, current and anticipated weather conditions—including cooler daytime highs, low water temperatures, and the potential for rain—pose safety and comfort concerns for swimmers and staff,' KC Parks & Rec. said in a news release.
Worlds of Fun also announced this week that the opening of Oceans of Fun will be postponed to Friday, May 30.
