Province grants Kempenfelt Community Players $63K for renos
Barrie's local theatre group accepted a $63K capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Fund for some much-need renovations.
The funding will allow it to serve the community and continue it's mission of inspiring and empowering through the arts.
The KCP facilities are showing significant wear and tear, requiring new equipment and several necessary renovations including,
The rehearsal room's upgrades include improved acoustics for musicians and singers and proper flooring for dancers.
The workshop room required electrical modifications and the procurement of new tools for safety and efficiency.
The costume loft needed flooring repairs and additional equipment for costume creation activities.
'The support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation directly helps our members, aged 10 to over 70, who participate in the choirs, theatre groups, schools, and the many community partners who use our facility to learn, rehearse, and create,' said Andree Day, vice-chairperson.
'These upgrades ensure we can continue to serve as a vital arts hub, year-round, for all who walk through our doors.'
Kempenfelt Community Players' mission is to entertain and inspire audiences and to create opportunities for the community to participate in quality productions both on stage and behind the scenes.
'Thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation's $63,600 Capital grant, Kempenfelt Community Players can continue enriching the Barrie and Innisfil community through arts, culture, and heritage,' said MPP Barrie-Innisfil Andrea Khanjin. 'This investment from our government has made it possible to renovate and retrofit their workshop, rehearsal, costume, and storage spaces, enhancing the creative programs available to our community.'
