Previously, during an interview with ETV Bharat, Shilpa Shetty opened up about her experience of working with Sanjay Dutt. 'Honestly, getting a chance to work with Sanju again was a joy in itself. We have known each other for many years, not just as co-actors but on a personal and professional level as well. He knows me completely, and I know him just as well. That genuine off-screen bond makes our on-screen chemistry even more alive," Shilpa stated. KD: The Devil Plot and Cast Directed by Prem, the film is produced by Venkat K. Narayana under KVN Productions and stars Dhruva Sarja in the lead role alongside Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, V. Ravichandran, Reeshma Nanaiah, Ramesh Aravind, Nora Fatehi, and others. The film marks Shilpa Shetty's return to Kannada films after nearly two decades. Set against a 1970s backdrop, KD: The Devil is expected to be an action-packed drama with intense fight sequences. The film is set to be dubbed in various languages, including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam. The film is expected to release on July 10, 2026. All Tamil Films Released In Karnataka Except Thug Life, Says Dhruva Sarja
Chennai: Kannada star Dhruva Sarja on Friday pointed out that all Tamil movies were being released in Karnataka and that only Kamal Haasan's 'Thug Life' was stopped from being released because people there were hurt by a statement of the actor. Dhruva Sarja, who was in Chennai for the Tamil teaser launch of his film KD The Devil, took time to answer questions from the media in Chennai on Friday. The actor's attention was drawn to the fact that while Kannada films could release without any hassle in Tamil Nadu, a Tamil film (Thug Life) that had released recently in other parts could not be released in Karnataka. Responding to the question, actor Dhruva Sarja said that people in Karnataka were hurt by a particular statement of actor Kamal Haasan that resulted in the prevention of release of his pan-Indian film Thug Life. The actor said, "There have been a lot of Tamil films that have released in Karnataka even before I was born. So, nobody stopped any of those movies. Here, in this particular case, people there got offended by a statement of Kamal Haasan. Let me be direct and open about this." He went on to say, "Here, everybody loves their mother tongue. Similarly, we love and we adore our mother tongue. When it comes to our mother tongue, definitely people will react. Except for that one film, all other (Tamil) films have released there. So, our Kannada audience will definitely encourage. When it comes to their self respect or mother tongue, they will definitely oppose." Director Prem said, "All films release in Karnataka. Also, this is not another country. We are just 300 kms away. So, we are all one. People felt hurt because the statement was about our mother (tongue). They did not say that Tamil films must not release. It (the opposition) was only for Kamal sir's film. They only asked him to say sorry because he made that statement. That was all. Everybody is one. We all, including me, watch Tamil films."

In the last few days, Maharashtra has been experiencing a controversy over the Hindi and Marathi language. It all started when the state Government decided to make Hindi mandatory for Class I students in Marathi and English medium schools. At the trailer launch of 'Son Of Sardaar 2' in Mumbai, was asked about it. He literally lit up the room and made everyone chuckle as he reacted to the Hindi vs Marathi debate. He got into his 'Singham' mode and said, 'Aata Maajhi Satakli' Meanwhile, recently, Shilpa Shetty also commented on the issue. At the trailer launch event of KD The Devil with co-star Sanjay Dutt, when asked about it, both the actors refused to talk about it. However, Shilpa just ended the discussion by saying, 'Mala Marathi yete. Me Maharashtra chi Mulgi aahe (I know Marathi, I'm Maharasthra's girl).' Singer Udit Narayan also had commented on it. Speaking to IANS, he said, 'We live in Maharashtra and it is my 'Karma Bhoomi'. So, the language here is also important. Along with that, all the languages in our country are equally important." Janhvi Kapoor's boyfriend Shikhar Pahariya who is the grandson of former CM of Maharashtra, SushilKumar Shinde, had penned a long note about it. He had said that while the Marathi pride and 'asmita' is deep, emotional and rooted in our way of life, 'That pride cannot come at the cost of others' dignity… We cannot keep a language alive through fear."

Shilpa Shetty calls herself ‘Maharashtra chi mulgi' as she refuses to comment on Marathi language row, internet reacts
Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty declined to comment on the ongoing language row in Maharashtra. It happened when she was out in Mumbai for the promotion of her upcoming film KD The Devil with co-star Sanjay Dutt. While Sanjay and Shilpa were asked about the Marathi language row, Shilpa refused to talk about it. Her silence has been criticised by the people on the internet. Shilpa was asked to share her opinion on the Marathi language row at the teaser launch event. However, she refused, citing that she wants to avoid controversy. However, she also asserted her roots and called herself 'Maharashtra chi mulgi.' Shilpa said, 'Me Maharashtra chi mulgi aaahe. (I am a Maharashtrian girl)" She added, "KD se hatke abhi aap kisi controversy mein jana chahte hain toh hum uska badhaawa nahi karenge. Yeh picture already ek multi-lingual hain, isko hum Marathi mei bhi dub kar sakte hain (Yes. I'm a girl from Maharashtra. Today, we're talking about the film KD. If you want to talk about other controversial things, we can't really encourage that. This film is already a multilingual one, and we can dub it in Marathi as well.)" After hearing her answer, Sanjay, who couldn't comment on the issue due to a mic issue, responded with a subtle smile. Reacting to their silence, netizens have largely criticised the actors. One of them wrote on X, formerly Twitter, 'Her husband makes porn for a living. He was in jail under Tada. She laughs at a real question. They mock us. Everyday (sic).' 'Boneless ducks doing quack quack,' added another. 'Marathi me hi bnao na movie...(why don't you make a Marathi film),' commented one more. Someone also said, 'No spine! Only Apna Spna Money Money.' The Marathi language row erupted after the state government planned to introduce Hindi as a third language in primary schools of Maharashtra. The decision was met with huge backlash from the opposition. While the BJP-led government in Maharashtra reversed its order, the debate is still on, prompting several incidents in the state. Meanwhile, KD The Devil is a pan-India film. It is directed by Prem. Apart from Shilpa and Sanjay Dutt, the film also stars Dhruva Sarja, Reeshma Nanaiah, Ramesh Aravind, and Ravichandran.
